"STRIKE SEASON" IS OVER!

After 14 months of being on hold (WGA strike, SAG-AFTRA strike, and IATSE), the film/TV Industry will REOPEN! And that means...

- Hollywood will be going back to work!
- Producers will be looking at new projects!
- Managers will be considering new clients.
- Writers who are ready can make things happen!

Today, the Hollywood Basic Crafts union and the Teamsters made a tentative deal with the AMPTP, signaling that Strike Season is Over.

This comes after WGA, SAG-AFTRA, IATSE members ratified their deal with the AMPTP!

Of course, it will all happen over time. We aren't expecting instant results because the Industry has to recover and gear up. But over the next few months, the Studio/Streamer business will get back to some version of normal.

The great news is that there has been much more activity in the market for writers over the this week in anticipation of this deal. Some pro writers are already back at work, and new projects are getting picked up, including a bidding war last week!

Get ready! The faster you get into the game, the better your chance of success!

IATSE REACHES TENATIVE AGREEMENT

Once this agreement is ratified by the IATSE membership, "strike season" will officially be over! This entire industry has been on hold until this moment.

With this announcement, studios, streamers, producers, managers/agents, and writers will begin the preparation to get back to work. Audiences need new content! Very likely, we'll see the industry come to life like never before to fulfill that need.

POSSIBLE SCHEDULE: In the next few days, a summary of the agreement will be released. Then, on July 13th, they'll present deal to members by webinar. A vote will follow! Likely completion by July 19th!

My recommendation for writers: Get your best projects ready now. Then get them in front of producers and managers as soon as this deal is ratified!

The provisional deal, which is still subject to a ratification vote, raises wages by 7 percent in the first year, includes language covering AI and applies additional penalties for long workdays.

GREAT NEWS!

The WGA Agreement with Studios/Streamers.

This contract applies to WGA writers and Signatory companies. It provides the deal on things like minimums, AI, staffing, etc..

The following is a summary of the deal terms for the 2023 MBA. It is a simplified version of the Memorandum of Agreement (“MOA”), which contains the full text of the new provisions.
