A little bit about Muscatine Magazine

Muscatine Magazine represents the interests of the Muscatine community in general and supports the mission of the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GMCCI). It is a free, advertiser-supported quarterly publication that is distributed by mail to all residences and businesses in Muscatine and by hand to advertisers.

Muscatine Magazine was founded in 2010 by then-Muscatine resident Dawnese Openshaw, who served as its first publisher and editor. Janet Morrow succeeded her. During Janet’s time as editor, GMCCI purchased the magazine. This turned over the publisher role to the chamber, but she remained editor. In May 2017, Kathy Kuhl became the communication specialist at GMCCI and editor of the magazine. Throughout its history, Mike Shield has served as the magazine’s designer.

In 2016, the magazine won the prestigious Clarion Award from the Association of Women in Communications. The award honors many kinds of media and publications for excellence in clear, concise communications.
