There is a deep seated reason for this focus on justice and law making, upholding Christian norms and values, whistle blowers, civil liberties, abuse of authority, civil disobedience, greed of politicians, companies and CEO's as well as their lacking touch with reality. Freedom of religion, freedom of expression, freedom of the press, personal freedom of privacy and the right to strike is not some
thing that just happened by itself. These are rights that some people have fought hard for, gone to jail and died for. Changes in society and law making changes happen, when people in the community actively go in and influence the injustices and shortcommings. Letters to the editor and demonstrations are legal ways to get through with protests, but when this has not helped there have been examples where citizens and groups of citizens have taken civil disobedience in use. Civil means that it is "ordinary citizens" who are behind the action and disobedience alludes to the fact that there is a breach of the law. Civil disobedience is the active, professed refusal to obey certain laws, demands, and commands of a government, or of an occupying international power. It is characteristic of civil disobedience that the action is not violent and that the citizen is willing to be accountable for his actions. In other words, one is ready to accept the consequences of the illegal actions - it could be a penalty of a fine or imprisonment.
