This was one of the most amazing conversations I have ever had and I am excited that I can share it with you in this, the latest episode of the Being Springfield with Clint Girlie podcast: Being Trans in Springfield.

I spoke with Mandy (trans woman), Brooke (trans woman) and Shannon (Brooke's wife) about life as a trans person both individually and within the Ozarks. They were candid, honest and welcoming of my questions - and understanding towards my ignorance which was on full display. When you get a few minutes, you should really give it a listen.

Is Springfield really the "m**h capital" of the Midwest?

If you're like me, that's stuff I've sways wanted to know about the police... well that and about 100 other things.

If only we could get the Chief of Police here in Springfield to do an open and unscripted interview about all that stuff.

Well, a few days ago, I was lucky enough to sit down with the Chief of the Springfield, MO Police Department, Paul Williams, and have that conversation... and in a word... it was fascinating.

Today, we’re launching our new series “Being Springfield.”
Simply put, this show is a deep and personal dive into minority culture in one of the least diverse areas in the country, Southwest Missouri. A place many of us call home.

So here it is. our first episode... Being Black in Springfield.
What you’ll hear is an honest, candid and firsthand perspective into what it’s actually like being black in Springfield. No pretense or political correctness. Just a real conversation, about the most heated topic in our country today and how that looks and feels in our town.

Why do this?

Well… I wish I had a better, less self-serving answer to give you, but it wouldn’t be true. I did this for me. I’m making this show for me. To further my own understanding. To ask questions I’ve always been uncomfortable asking or have never had the opportunity to ask in the first place.

And if you’ve ever felt like that, too… I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
