I went back and forth on which book to reprint next. But after all the messages you sent about Denlinger’s book, it became clear: "The Complete Pitbull or Staffordshire Terrier" had to be the one. I understand why you’re all hunting for this book — it’s an absolute classic. Honestly, I’d say it’s easily Milo Denlinger’s best work, though I might be a bit biased when it comes to this breed! :)

If you know the book, you know how rare it’s become! Even if you’re willing to pay a small fortune, it’s still a needle-in-a-haystack hunt. You won’t find it just anywhere, and definitely not for $86 (with shipping included!).

This might be your one chance to own this beautiful 6x9 hardcover with 250 pages of Denlinger’s finest work!

Looks like Christmas came early for me! Is this a score, or is this THE score? The American Gamedog, published in 1917 by the legendary dogman Claud Blackwell, is a true holy grail of bulldog literature—right up there with F.G. Henry's book. Some claimed it didn’t exist, but here it is! If there's something worth uncovering, you can count on me to dig it up :) Now the big question: should I reprint this gem in time for Christmas? There's still time—let me know your thoughts!

There was always plenty of talk surrounding James Hinks and his so-called "white cavaliers." Some enthusiasts went so far as to claim these dogs were not just formidable fighters but even superior to any other breed in the pit. However, it’s worth noting that James Hinks was certainly not the pioneer in crossing Bulldogs with Terriers. By the time he started breeding, many Bulldogs already had considerable Terrier blood due to earlier crossbreeding efforts. Moreover, neither Old Puss (Rebel x Wasp), born in 1861, nor Old Madman (Crib x Smit), born in 1855, were bred with fighting in mind (not bred to the business as John Henry Walsh a.k.a. Stonehenge stated in 1864) — they were show dogs, not combatants. Most of these tales — riddled with inaccuracies — are simply part of the Bull Terrier legend, with little to no historical backing. The photo shows Carleton Hinks, the grandson of James Hinks, with one of his Bull Terriers, around 1915.

Mexico has a history of traditional activities such as bullfighting, cockfighting, and, to a lesser extent, dog fighting. J.P. Colby, and later his son Louis, found customers and friends in Mexico willing to spend money on high-quality dogs. As a result, the Colbys regularly sent dogs, treadmills, and game fowl into Mexico. The photo shows DANGER, circa 1915, a dog bred by J.P. Colby and owned by Thomas Rees of El Oro, Mexico.
