“He faces the world with confident eyes
The lies he hides where no one can see
Successful in material emptiness

Inside he screams from unrealised reality
Open roads and endless horizons calling
He is far from home

Belonging to the oceans and the plains
The mountains and the wild
He searches this world and the next”

“Far away is the land of rest
Thousand miles are stretched between
Many a mountain’s stormy crest
Many a desert void of green

Wasted worn is the traveller
Dark his heart and dim his eye
Without hope or comforter
Faltering faint and ready to die

Often he looks to the ruthless sky
Often he looks o’er his dreary road
Often he wishes down to lie
And render up life’s tiresome load

But yet faint not mournful man
Leagues on leagues are left behind
Since your sunless course began
Then go on to toil resigned

If you still despair control
Hush its whispers in your breast
You shall reach the final goal
You shall win the land of rest”
- Emily Bronte

“...he suddenly asked himself: ‘What if my entire life, my entire conscious life, simply was not the real thing?’
It occurred to him that what had seemed utterly inconceivable before—that he had not lived the kind of life he should have—might in fact be true. It occurred to him that those scarcely perceptible impulses of his to protest what people of high rank considered good, vague impulses which he had always suppressed, might have been precisely what mattered, and all the rest not been the real thing.”

“In life, there are brief and momentary opportunities that ask us to assert our existence. Although a creative impulse, they can be destructive, because they make us veer away from our normal patterns and habits. Life is compelling us to take these small acts of rebellion so we can go beyond the edges of ourselves, and by doing so, we end up rediscovering ourselves. These moments are a great reminder that, like all other animals, we are, and will always be, wild.”
- Kamand Kojouri

Thank you everyone for all the birthday messages. I was overwhelmed with your love and compassion.

The morning was spent in relative despair, expecting the emergency surgery I so desperately needed wouldn’t occur, as it hadn’t the previous 3 days. But at midday, I was informed that my time had come! A birthday wish granted.
I spent the next 7 hours in theatre before being returned to the ward.

As what is now common practice, it was a most unconventional of days celebrating another lap around the sun.

This past year has, without doubt, been one of the most difficult years I have lived through. But despite the difficulties, I don’t hold any ill will towards it, but take solace in the fact that I am still here. That even after having sunk so low, we are now on the rebounding trajectory towards the heavens, grateful for all the beautiful souls I am blessed to share this journey with.

“The same rule holds for us now, of course: we choose our next world through what we learn in this one.
Learn nothing, and the next world is the same as this one, all the same limitations and lead weights to overcome."

“Standing in front of a pile of wood, waiting to become fire and illuminate by heating what surrounds it, we forge our intention of love and co-creation.

Each of us has encountered sacredness in different places and cultures, but what we have found uniting is the connection with the elements of nature.
If we are truly one, then we are fire, air, earth and water.
By observing these elements we can learn and know what lives inside us.

With fire we learn the art of dying to create, living flame drives us to action in the world, to make love, to manifest art.

With air we discover the ability to expand our voice and to carry that fire where it needs burning. Vision from above to go within, lightness to move stuck thoughts.

With the earth we live the nourishment of the mother who gives the fruits, generosity of abundance, unconditional giving, I nourish myself to feed the other and I nourish the other to nourish me. To be of service.

Finally in the reflection in the water we see our rigidity and our ability to flow through life and carry memories. Water carries and teaches us to receive.

These are the objectives we set ourselves. Return to nature to be nature, meet the elements to be elements ourselves.
We need to find our way with nature. With love. With hospitality. With kindness.
We need to be there for each other.“

“He is self-conscious because everyone knows he has wings but they've never seen him fly. Now & then there will be a feather in odd places or maybe a footprint to show he was there. All in all, he thinks it's nobody else's business what he does with his free time.”

Embarking on the journey of life often feels like traversing a vast, unpredictable terrain. There are mountains of challenges, rivers of emotions, forests of opportunities, and deserts of solitude. At times, the path ahead may seem daunting, filled with uncertainties and insecurities, leading many to question their capabilities. Carlos Castaneda's words serve as a poignant reminder in such moments: "You have everything needed for the extravagant journey that is your life."

Each individual is equipped with a unique blend of talents, experiences, and perspectives that make them capable of navigating life's complexities. These intrinsic qualities are the compass, map, and provisions one carries. They are the reservoirs of strength, resilience, and wisdom that can be tapped into when faced with obstacles.
Moreover, life is not merely about reaching a destination but embracing the journey itself. It's about savoring every high and low, learning from every twist and turn, and growing with every step. The skills and lessons acquired along the way are invaluable, shaping the soul and enriching the spirit.

Often, external voices of doubt and societal pressures can cloud judgment and create feelings of inadequacy.
In such moments, it's vital to remember Castaneda's wisdom and look inward. For within each person lies an infinite well of potential, waiting to be discovered. With self-belief, perseverance, and an open heart, the journey of life transforms into an extravagant adventure, brimming with possibilities.

“People confuse me. Food doesn't.
But when I die, I will decidedly not be regretting missed opportunities for a good time. My regrets will be more along the lines of a sad list of people hurt, people let down, assets wasted and advantages squandered.”
- Anthony Bourdain
