What does the title “Deadly medicine” insinuate to you? Before it’s released I’d like to know, what do you think it is about? After all these two words together could have many meanings…
-I’ve wanted to write a duet for years. Lance Rogers and I were discussing writing a song together and he sent me an idea for a title “Deadly medicine”. We talked about what this title could mean and how it could be interpreted in different ways. Was it literal, was it metaphorical? I immediately started writing. Once I got the basic structure down for the full song, lyrics and guitar melody, I sent him an acoustic recording and a blank space for a new verse, we then adjusted back and forth accordingly and ended up with a damn masterpiece. I knew I needed the right woman’s voice to fit the feeling of this song, it needed to be powerful and emotional at the same time to fit the vibe, and there was no doubt that I wanted Hannah Howard singing this part. I saw her live the first time at Pit House and was mesmerized by her sound, and just as I knew she would, she knocked this song plum outta the park. After getting Logan Henry, Luke Estep, & Sam Rogers involved we layed down at Fat Cave Studios what I can honestly say is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever been part of. It has such a unique and beautiful yet nostalgic, powerful feel. I wouldn’t call it a love song, quite the opposite in fact, it hits straight to the core of a feeling that I know a lot of folks have lived and learned from, but is completely open to interpretation to whatever it may mean to you personally as well just as a well written song should.
I absolutely cannot wait for you all to hear this.

“Deadly Medicine” is out everywhere this Friday, Dec 13th.

Hey y’all, if y’all haven’t noticed yet, the album went live on streaming platforms last night at midnight 👀 but don’t let that stop you from showing up tomorrow night at The Creekers Album Release Party at KY Music Hall of Fame Amphitheater ! It’ll get y’all geared up for tomorrow night ! We want to thank Jerome Jarvis, Calvin Johnson and Boots and Rose and family over at The Ponderosa Pines, if it wouldn’t for y’all we wouldn’t have been able to get this album made. We wanna thank Mel and Lawrence Washburn, they’ve come along and helped us more times than we can count. We wanna thank Fat Sam at The Fat Cave studio for all his work, he’s damn great and if you want any recording done he’s your man! Can’t thank our kick ass manager Tim Parks enough either. He’s pushed us and pushed this album to no ends and we are grateful. And as always our booking girl Sweet Johnnie Lynn Abner. Besides being Tanners better half you keep us all in line and wouldn’t be where we are without you. And major thank you to Jess Bowman for all of our artwork and being so patient with our picky asses.
That being said, hard copies will be available tomorrow night at the album release, with all of our merch. Y’all come out and let’s have a good ole time !

Released in May 2021, Eric Combs was our first official Fat Cave Records artist. Smoke is Eric's 3rd album. Dude was on absolute fire while cooking this in the booth. We're honored to have been a part of this record. Eric has since become a close friend and his plethora of animal and bird knowledge is baffling. Check out the single "Underdog". It's the first song of the album for a reason. ;)

These tracks have thought provoking lyrics mixed with all the warmth and soul of a man locked in step with the stride of nature and the earth.
