🫶There are so many things to be thankful for... family, friends, leftovers after a long day of cooking! Two of my favorite things are reimagining leftovers and inventing on the fly in the kitchen. Here are just a few quick and easy ideas to incorporate Thanksgiving leftovers with staples you probably already have in your kitchen.🫶

“Food and home only ever sing if you pour your heart and soul into them.”
We bought the farm in fall of 2020. The whole world was shutting down and we found our refuge on 40 rolling acres of legacy farmland on the banks of the Tennessee river. It was literally an oasis in the chaos the whole world was feeling. Two and a half years of intense renovation later, our dream home was complete and the world was (relatively) back to normal.
In those two and a half years, my babies became kids and I gained a new appreciation for home, but more specifically, a home that loves our family back – a cozy, comforting home, where pantries are full, sofas are comfy and long counters and barstools bring everyone into the kitchen. A home that welcomes impromptu guests with good food and kitchen conversation. A place where patio doors stay open as kids play outside and friends sip and snack under ceiling fans on wide porches in summer.
Today, holidays on the farm find family and friends sipping cider beside fire pits and gathered around the kitchen whipping up favorite recipes. Our home is my favorite place and here I hope to share that love of home (and how to curate it) with the world.

❄️ Snowflake Marshmallows ❄️ These magical homemade snowflake marshmallows will instantly up your hot cocoa game! They taste AMAZING and they melt slowly into a beautiful foam (if they last that long). 😉 🧐Pro tip: Use snowflake pie punches to cut these once they are throughly dusted with confectioner’s sugar and you’ll get a lovely pressed pattern! Ingredients ❄️ Cooking spray ❄️ 3 envelopes powdered unflavored gelatin ❄️ 1/2 c cold water + 1/2 c cold water ❄️ 1½ c granulated sugar ❄️ 1 c light corn syrup ❄️ ¼ tsp kosher salt ❄️ 1 Tbsp vanilla extract ❄️ 1 Tbsp confectioner’s sugar + more for dusting Equipment ❄️ Stand mixer ❄️ Candy Thermometer ❄️ Snowflake cookie cutters or pie punches Instructions❄️ Lightly oil an 8-by-8-inch baking dish. Combine gelatin and water in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment and set aside. ❄️ In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, salt and ½ cup cold water and stir to combine. Cook over medium-high heat, swirling the pan occasionally, for about 10 minutes or until the mixture reaches 240 degrees on a candy thermometer. ❄️ Set stand mixer to low speed and carefully pour hot syrup into the bowl with gelatin mixture. Add vanilla and confectioner’s sugar. ❄️ Turn the mixer to high and whip until peaking and glossy. ❄️ Pour mixture into prepared pan and spread with an oiled spatula or knife. Let rest until firm. ❄️ Sift confectioner’s sugar over a work surface and turn out marshmallow onto surface. Dust top with confectioner’s sugar and cut into snowflakes with an oiled cutter - if using pie punches, make sure not to get the impression part in oil (only the outer edges). #Maeshmallows #makeyourown #diymarshmallows #funbaking #foodie #baking #holidaycooking #holidayideas

🍅🧀 Candy Cane Caprese Salad 🧀🍅 Something a little different, but just as festive! Served with a toasted baguette, this candy cane is a bright, healthy choice during the season of sugar and heavy hors d'oeuvres!
🍎 Charred Apple Butter 🍎 This delicious charred apple butter is addictive and doesn’t require peeling pounds of apples! Start it before bed and enjoy right away the next day. I LOVE using this recipe in Baked Brie en Croûte or just by itself on toast or in overnight oats. Ingredients 🍎 3 lbs sweet apples (I used gala), cored and sliced 🍎 1/4 cup cane sugar 🍎 1/2 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed 🍎 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon 🍎 1/8 tsp salt 🍎 Pinch ground cloves 🍎 1 teaspoons vanilla paste Instructions 🍎 Slice unpeeled apples into 1/4” slices and pour into slow cooker. 🍎 Add remaining dry ingredients (withholding vanilla paste) and stir until thoroughly combined. 🍎 Cook on low heat for 8-10 hours (until apples are completely softened and dark brown in color. 🍎 Remove lid, add vanilla paste, and allow to cool to room temperature. 🍎 Add to Vitamin (or use an immersion blender) and puree until smooth (or desired texture). 🍎 Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 2-3 weeks.
🌶️🍫☕️ Mayan Hot Cocoa (Xocolatl) ☕️🍫🌶️ I know this sounds weird, but it’s delicious! I first had this spicy holiday treat when we lived in New Mexico and while I don’t always take my cocoa this way, it is a lovely treat! I love to add homemade cinnamon marshmallows and serve with something very light (i.e. wafers or palmiers). Ingredients 🌶️ 1 1/2 cup milk 🌶️ 3 Tbsp sipping chocolate (or instant hot chocolate mix) 🌶️ 1 tsp vanilla 🌶️ 1 tsp ground cinnamon 🌶️ Red chili powder (or cayenne pepper) to taste - I use 1/4 tsp Instructions ☕️Mix the hot chocolate mix, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper together in a mug. ☕️Heat milk on the stove until it begins to boil, about 2 minutes. ☕️Slowly pour in hot cocoa mix, cinnamon and cayenne, whisking steadily. Enjoy immediately. For coffee people, add a shot of espresso for a morning boost! #instadrink #drink #holidaydrinks #newmexico #warmdrinks #winterdrinks #foodie #wintervibes

Trim pastry to a circle and wrap around brie, pinching edges to seal. 5. Cut off any excess pastry and roll into a “pumpkin stem.” 6. Cut 5 strips of baker’s twine. Tie all strands together in the center and spread strings in a circle. 7. Place wrapped wheel in center with folds facing up and tie strands together around the pastry making sure to keep strands spaced evenly. 8. Flip everything over so that the smooth side is facing up and gently apply egg wash to pastry and pumpkin stem. 9. Bake in oven for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown, adding the stem in the last 5-10 minutes.10. Allow to cool for several minutes, then carefully cut and remove the strings. 11.
