Cold Blow presents Bonus Beats pre-release party at Kuudes Linja, 27th December!

We'll celebrate the upcoming electro compilation with a line-up of homegrown classic names. After making a splendid return to the stage at last summer’s Flow Festival, Mr. Velcro Fastener—the duo that rose to the forefront of the new wave electro scene at the turn of the millennium—now appears in a rare club performance. Also performing live is Tero, who innovatively harnesses the Commodore 64’s distinctive sound. The electro-packed night is rounded out by DJs Erkko, Jennijay & ERBR (Punto Electro), Jam “J” & Kair (Cold Blow DJs), and VJ Indigo.

We are thrilled to announce the release we have been working on with Erkko Lehtinen for quite a bit! A landmark compilation celebrating Finland’s underground electro movement around the turn of the millennium. Bonus Beats: Rare & Unreleased Finnish Electro 1990–2002 showcases 9 rare and 3 previously unreleased tracks from pioneering artists such as Mono Junk, Mr. Velcro Fastener, Jori Hulkkonen, Imatran Voima and the late Mika Vainio.

Compilation is curated by Erkko Lehtinen, a key figure in the scene as a DJ and promoter, the release also features liner notes sharing the story behind this unique era and hand-crafted artwork by frequent Cold Blow collaborator, Ed Cheverton. Double-LP and digital formats.

Available to pre-order now via Cold Blow Bandcamp and Kudos Records web shop. Bandcamp pre-orders come with an immediate download of several key tracks, including the ones in this post:

We are deeply saddened and heartbroken to let you know that our dear friend and collaborator Jason Adkins passed away unexpectedly on the 1st of October due to a heart attack.

Our deepest condolences go out to Jason’s partner Tracey.

Jason was best known by his artist names E.M.U. / Electro Music Union, Liquid Son, Sinoesin, Xonox, and many others. His music continues to receive so much love all around the world, capturing new fans today as much as it did back when he first got started over three decades ago. We feel extremely privileged to have had the chance to work with him and bring his music to new audiences. Jason was humble, kind and funny, and we will greatly miss him.

We are raising funds to help Tracey with the costs and have published a previously unreleased track on Bandcamp as pay-what-you-want, link in bio. The track, which Jason was very fond of, is called “I Love” and it was to be the basis for a new official release which he was working on when his health allowed. All proceeds from the sales of ANY of Jason’s existing releases will go to Tracey.

In case it eluded you, we’re thrilled to announce the reissue of the Japan-exclusive DMX Krew CD, ’Kiss Goodbye,’ originally from 2005! The final DMX Krew vocal-led album for nearly two decades will be available on 2 x LP vinyl for the very first time, hitting shelves on March 8th, 2024.

Contemporaneous with the ’Collapse Of The Wave Function’ series on Rephlex, ’Kiss Goodbye’ is a killer full-length that seamlessly blends Minneapolis Funk and Freestyle.

The vinyl was cut from the original source, which had been mastered back in the day by Noel Summerville, whose CV boasts too many classics to list – from Newcleus and Hashim to Ohio Players and Rick Astley! Plus, the sleeve has undergone a complete redesign, courtesy of Organic Analogue co-founder Benedetta Sodini.

And here’s a bait: not that anyone would stop scrolling and click themselves over to the site for pre-order, but just so you know, there’s a pretty hefty early bird offer currently up on Bandcamp! 🐦 Alternatively, just wait so you can pay double when the record lands elsewhere 😉

Happy new year, that’s 2023 wrapped! 🎉 A big shoutout to all artists, collaborators, and everyone who showed their support by purchasing and playing our records! This year marked our 5th anniversary, and we celebrated it in style with a stunning compilation and a memorable release party weekender. Here’s a quick recap of our year:
