The NCFP Chairman and President, Hon. Prospero A. Pichay Jr., wishes to announce the conduct of the Philippine National Chess Championship, "The Battle of the Grandmaster,” from December 27, 2023, to January 7, 2024, with the joint effort of the host and co-organizers from the office of the City Mayor of Marikina, Hon. Marcy Teodoro, together with his wife, Hon. Marjorie Ann "Maan" Teodoro, representative for Marikina's 1st congressional district, who also sponsor this national prestigious event with a hefty amount of total cash prizes of PHP 330,000.00. They also provide hotel accommodations with full meals for all competitors.
Alongside for this event are the participation of Eugene Torre Chess Foundation headed by founding president Asia's first grandmaster, GM Eugene Torre, Pan de Amerikana Proprietor Jundio Salvador. Likewise, this event is supported by Philippine Olympic Committee President Mayor Abraham N. Tolentino and in cooperation with Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Richard E. Bachmann.
