Hey there, amazing souls! Today, on World Mental Health Day, I’m thrilled to share some behind the scenes shots of the campaign video and produced for the Calzy Foundation, a beacon of hope for those battling the darkest of thoughts. 🙏

In a world where mental health matters more than ever, the CALZY Foundation stands strong in its mission to advocate for those dealing with suicidal thoughts. They’ve created a lifeline of support through their 24/7 helpline, providing a listening ear when it’s needed most. 💬

🌈 It reminds us that no one is alone in their struggles, and there is always help, hope, and love available to light the way. 🕯️

Join me in spreading the message of hope and resilience. Let’s make sure no one feels isolated or unheard. Together, we can create a world where mental health is prioritized, and no one has to face their battles alone. 💪❤️

Please watch, share, and support the CALZY Foundation’s vital work. Together, we can make a difference! 🤝💕

As a producer and filmmaker, dealing with rejection is something that comes with the territory. With constant networking, unanswered emails, and rejections along with all the positive responses, feelings of discouragement can settle in. I recently took some time away from social media to focus on staying positive amidst all of this. Here are some tips I've found helpful on how to deal with rejection as a producer and filmmaker:

⏰ Take Time Away: It's important to take a break from it all and breathe - take a step back to regroup and reflect on your goals and where you're at in achieving them.
💡 Reframe Your Perspective: Remind yourself why you got into filmmaking in the first place; remember your passion instead of focussing on the defeats.
🙋‍♀️ Seek Support & Feedback: Reach out to positive people in your network who can offer feedback or simply be there for support when needed - no one can do it alone!
💪 Develop Resilience: Rejection doesn't define you; don't let it stop your growth or creative process - keep going no matter what!
🙌 Celebrate Small Wins: Focus on the successes no matter how small they may seem; celebrate each win along the way and use them as motivation for future projects.

It's easy to get caught up in our self-doubt when faced with rejection but it's essential to know that failure isn't final - keep working towards achieving your dreams, celebrating every step along the way!

✨ Chatting with and Drew Comins, we discovered some invaluable lessons:

1️⃣ Tenacity is key; keep pushing forward, even when faced with "No's". Your "Yes" is waiting.

2️⃣ Embrace life's diverse experiences; they fuel creativity and the ability to craft something truly magical.

3️⃣ Dream, plan, and love with all your heart. The possibilities are endless.

🌈 Let's seize every opportunity and make our dreams come true! 💫

Master the Film Production Communication Game!

Communication reigns supreme in the film production realm. Here's the deal: Own the stage with unwavering confidence and laser-focused clarity. Leave no room for confusion or assumptions. Instead, embrace verified information and iron out any wrinkles.

But hold on tight, because even in the midst of the craziest production storms, we stand united as a team. Stress might try to steal the show, but we have each other's backs. When a crew member is overwhelmed, it's our duty to offer support and remind them to take a breather. After all, a fresh mind leads to brilliant ideas and smoother production.

Now, let's shower our crew with genuine appreciation and recognition. They deserve the spotlight. Offer compliments, bonuses, and celebrations that make them feel like the stars they are. Together, we create an environment where everyone feels valued and motivated. Make sure everyone...I mean everyone is well-fed and has water, even if it's your own co-producer!

But what about those inevitable conflicts? Fear not! We tackle them head-on like seasoned pros. Identify the source, address it promptly, and channel your inner diplomat. Find solutions that satisfy all parties involved. And remember, conflict resolution is just another way we strengthen our bonds and enhance our teamwork.

So step into that director's chair, command the communication stage with unwavering confidence, and keep that team spirit burning bright. Your film production is waiting for your genius. Lights, camera, communicate like a boss, and support each other like family!

Tips from an emerging producer!

Tips from an emerging producer!

Consider me an emerging filmmaker, but that's just scratching the surface of who I am. I'm proudly armed with a treasure trove of knowledge acquired through an array of experiences, relentless learning, and unabashed curiosity. If you find yourself at the beginning of your own journey, I'm here to share invaluable insights and exchange stories, connecting with fellow adventurers who have braved the twists and turns of this mesmerizing realm.

Let's talk about something that the industry often overlooks—the power of relationships. When embarking on a project with someone, it's akin to a marriage. And hey, even in marriage, we exchange vows and sign contracts to establish expectations. It's all about ensuring that no one feels taken for granted or ends up in an unfavourable partnership. Trust me, if you ever come across a potential collaborator who insists that contracts are unnecessary in the beginning, take my advice and run in the opposite direction!

You see, it's at the start of any venture that a well-crafted contract becomes your armour, protecting both you and your partner-in-creation. So, here's today's golden nugget—always, always have a contract! Tune in for my updates as an emerging producer manoeuvring through the captivating indie scene while remaining delightfully open-minded!

Lights, camera, Cannes! The Cannes Film Festival is like a theme park for filmmakers, where dreams are made and exhaustion is inevitable. I went in as a rookie and emerged as a semi-pro, armed with invaluable knowledge and memories.

Here are the key takeaways from their experience:

Plan your days wisely to avoid getting lost amidst the marque, pavilions, conferences, pitch sessions, parties, and screenings. Be flexible with your plan to embrace unexpected surprises.

Fuel up on caffeine and talk to everyone you can. You never know who you'll bump into—a future collaborator, a famous director, or a passionate film critic with a penchant for obscure cinema.

Building connections is key. People at Cannes are genuinely interested in getting to know you as a person. Collect those business cards, look them up later, and nurture those relationships.

Comfortable shoes are a must. With over 20,000 steps per day, your feet will thank you.

Be a keen observer and listener. There's a wealth of knowledge and inspiration surrounding you; soak it all in like a celluloid sponge.

Keep a sense of humour and don't take anyone, including yourself, too seriously. Cannes is a place where dreams collide and egos deflate faster than a soufflé in an earthquake.

After the festival, a social detox might be in order. But fear not, I'm just a DM away for any insider info or a friendly chat about Cannes.

And if you're hungry for more fascinating insights about the film industry, check out stephenfollows.com, the Harry Potter of film statistics (minus the wand and robes). So grab your popcorn, relax, and let the magic of Cannes inspire you.
