Cabinet have Approved Proposals to Standardise Waste Collections across RCT

This means that you will need to place your general waste out for collection in a maximum of THREE standard size (70L) Black Bags ONLY (as per current allowance), EVERY THREE WEEKS starting from MONDAY 30th SEPTEMBER 2024.

This collection method has operated across a third of the County Borough (Rhondda) for over 30 years.

There will be;

✅ NO CHANGE to how often waste is collected, which will still be every 3 weeks,
✅ NO CHANGE to the maximum limit of 3 black bags per household,
✅ NO CHANGE to recycling collections,
✅ NO CHANGE to your collection day or time.
✅ Residents CAN keep their wheelie bin for storage until collection, but Black bags will need to be taken out of the bins and put out for collection at the normal collection day, time, and location, which is usually at the kerbside.

❗ONLY change is Black Bags will be collected from the footway instead of from inside BINS

⛰️ If you are an off-road vehicle user, we urge you to reconsider when riding on tips. ⛰️

We want you to understand the illegality and danger posed to the drainage systems that are put in place across our tips from off road vehicles.

The images below show the damage that our Tip Safety Team work hard to correct. The tips have been carefully engineered to include drainage systems that support the internal and external stability of the tips, if these drainage systems are damaged, they pose a threat of sliding to the communities below.

🚩 If you see an off-road vehicle illegally driving on our tips, report it to: [email protected] or call 101.

Please be aware, three-way traffic lights are required at a section of Miskin Road in , to rectify an issue with a loose manhole cover.
The traffic management is needed where Miskin Road meets B4275 Penrhiwceiber Road and Bush Road – near the Mount Pleasant Hotel.
They will be in place from Friday, May 31, to Sunday, June 2 – scheduled during the half term week to minimise disruption.
The work will reset the manhole covers with concrete repairs, and then allow curing time before traffic passes over them to ensure their stability.
Please note, this work is being carried out by the contractor for the Mountain Ash Cross Valley Link project, at no additional cost to the Council.
Thanks in advance to the community for your cooperation
