As a life-long Beatles fan, I can say with conviction that "A Day In the Life" is about as perfect a creation that any artist could ever hope to achieve.

I dig some Neil Young stuff. Nowhere near to the level of reverence I carry for The Beatles, but the man is clearly very talented.

I did not hold high hopes for this. Thankfully, I was quite wrong, for it is absolutely fantastic.

Charlie Martin's pandemic experience has been much like the rest of ours, until it wasn't.

We discuss the emergence of the Pandemic Record as a bonafide thing, the fact that Martin spends lots of time wandering about, and ponder these gauzy illustrations of Imaginary People, and the musical post-it notes he leaves to himself.

Along the way, there's an 1870s era Steinway Grand Piano that makes an appearance, amid a hook-laden ocean of the melancholy and winsome. It's a back porch listen ready to happen.

Let's just start with the obvious: we don't know where the scarf is.

Recently, we sat down to canvass Taylor Swift's epic reimagining of her album Red, which has blossomed into a robust 30-track opus, featuring a dizzying array of collaborations, an extended exploration of the Scarf Scandal Situation™ and a fistful of tracks 'Taylor made' for belting out with your friends on spontaneous vacations.

There's a reason for all of the fervent fandom, the archeological dig into her life and loves that is given sunlight anew with each release. Her story is for many at once relatable and aspirational, and come to think of it, who wouldn't want to be 22 again? Get back to us on that one.

Come for the next level pop songcraft (and stay for a separate but memorable forensic look at Bust a Move) -

Show Update! We're editing several new episodes that should go live soon, but in the meantime, here's a little Holiday gem from the wayback machine that we strung together for our second Holiday mixtape show.

Happy Holidays, y'all ~ 🌲👀🎼

We figured out somewhere along the way that our Holiday Mixtape show wasn't an annual tradition, actually. Mostly because we skipped doing it last year altogether. In retrospect, it's probably better this way:

to one of our favorite episodes, where Ryan brought in Adam Ant's first solo record.

We learn all sorts of things, among them, that there's a lady who catalogs her husband's record collection, that Adam Ant, the musical entity is technically a DUO, that the Sexy Revolutionary War Guy™ getup is apparently a thing.

Adam and the Ants, perhaps the birthplace of the of the *Sexy Revolutionary War Guy* costume, is our focus as we welcome back our full complement of goofballs back into the fray.

What if I told you that the episode that a label just made a distributor take down is—arguably—the record specifically known for containing such an absurd number of samples that this feels like a prank?

If you don't think the world is funny, look around.
