Wow! The set for BATMAN ‘89 was a massive 95 acres!
Remembering Dennis O’Neil (May 3, 1939 - June 11, 2020): O’Neil is one of the most important creators within Batman's 85 year history, bringing the Batman back to his Gothic Golden Age roots after the campy era of the 1960s and the wildly popular Adam West television series. Alongside artists like Neal Adams (1941-2022) and Dick Giordano (1932-2010), O'Neil introduced new DC characters into the Dark Knight's mythos, such as Ra’s al Ghul (1971’s Batman 232), Talia al Ghul (1971’s Detective Comics 411), Leslie Thompkins and the term 'Crime Alley' (1976’s Detective Comics 457) and Jean-Paul Valley aka Azrael (1992’s Batman: Sword of Azrael). O'Neil in the 70s also reinvented rogues like Two-Face (1971’s Batman 234) and Joker in the now iconic tale "The Joker's Five Way Revenge" (1973’s Batman 251), making the Clown Prince of Crime return to his murderous and chaotic persona that we now see in modern media today. Throughout the modern era of DC, O'Neil would continue to contribute to Batman comics with many arcs in Legends of the Dark Knight and novelizations of feature films such as Tim Burton’s “Batman” and Joel Schumacher’s “Batman and Robin”.🦇🕊️📚
🖼️: In "Tap Tap Tap”, the last story within ‘Green Arrow 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular’ published June 29, 2021, Larry O’Neil beautifully celebrates the life and career of his late father, legendary writer Denny O’Neil, in a six page story illustrated by Jorge Fornes and Dave Stewart.

Remembering Adam West who portrayed Bruce Wayne’s Batman in the television series ‘Batman’ (1966-1968), ‘Batman: The Movie’ (1966), television’s ‘The New Adventures of Batman’ (1977), ‘Legends of the Superheroes’ (1979), ‘Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show’ (1984-1985), ‘The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians’ (1985-1986), & ‘Robot Chicken DC Comics Special 3: Magical Friendship’ (2015) and the animated films “Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders” (2016), and “Batman vs Two-Face” (2017). West also brought to life other Batman universe characters such as Simon Trent aka the Gray Ghost in ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ (1992), Mayor Marion Grange in the television series ‘The Batman’ (2004), and Thomas Wayne and Proto in television’s ‘Batman: The Brave and the Bold’ (2008-2011). Happy 38th birthday to Robert Pattinson, the ninth live action cinematic Batman.
Pattinson stars in Matt Reeves’ 2022 film “The Batman”, which follows Batman (Pattinson) working with Detective James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) to solve a gruesome murder mystery centered around the Riddler (Paul Dano) who is killing powerful figures in Gotham City, all beginning on Halloween night. As the Dark Avenger hunts down Riddler, his investigations not only see the help of Selina Kyle aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz) but also slowly unravel Riddler’s master plan and motive, changing Bruce Wayne and the Batman’s worlds forever.
Robert Pattinson’s Batman, a novice to the mantle in his second year as a crime fighter, is an unhinged and at times clumsy vigilante whose rage, founded upon the unsolved murder of his parents as a young child, guides his fists as he fights the numerous thugs on Gotham City’s rainy streets. Believing the cape and cowl is his path to live up to the Wayne family legacy, Bruce Wayne’s isolated persona proves to be the mask, with the Batman as his true self. With Battinson returning to the mantle in Matt Reeves’ upcoming sequel, “The Batman – Part II” set for release on October 2, 2026, Pattinson personifying noir vengeance within this cinematic universe has already made his interpretation of the Dark Knight a standout among many Batman fans.🦇🎥🎂

30 years ago today, Paul Dini & Boyd Kirkland’s ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ episode “House & Garden” aired on May 2, 1994. Due to her poisonous DNA, Pamela Isley aka Poison Ivy (Diane Pershing) is unable to have children. Now having a strong desire for a family, Ivy turns over a new leaf and apparently leaves her villainous lifestyle behind for a suburban one, including marrying a psychologist named Stephen Carlyle (Peter Strauss) and becoming the Step mother to two children. When wealthy Gothamites are being robbed in Poison Ivy fashion, however, Batman (Kevin Conroy) and Commissioner Gordon (Bob Hastings) become suspicious that Pamela’s new life isn’t what she claims. After investigating, Batman and Robin (Loren Lester) discover that Poison Ivy manipulated Dr. Stephen while in Arkham Asylum, resulting in her release. Wanting to manufacture her own family, Ivy would trap Stephen, utilize his DNA to create clones of Stephen that grow from infancy to adults to the inevitable plant monster. It is up to the Dark Knight to save both the people of Gotham and a troubled Poison Ivy. Dini’s “House & Garden” shines a human light on the prettiest of poisons in the Batman’s universe. 🦇🌹📺
