In today's episode we're celebrating the first American woman in space, Dr. Sally Ride! Her accomplishments as an astronaut are impressive, but she also accomplished so many things after she came back to Earth. https://introductionsnecessary.com/podcast/sally-ride/

Hey all!

Sorry for the delays in the podcast lately. The actual production parts of the show (recording, editing, and posting) are all done by just me and I've been dealing with some persistent health issues. Nothing too serious, just life with chronic illness. I'm hoping to start catching back up tomorrow.

I'm especially sorry if there was a particular episode in this batch that you were looking forward to. These women are all spectacular and they deserve my best work, even if that's delayed.

Thanks for understanding,
Mary

Mary W. Jackson is one of my personal role models. I am so inspired by her, not just because she accomplished so much in her engineering career. She also switched careers specifically to help others achieve their dreams, and changed the face of the workforce at NASA: https://introductionsnecessary.com/podcast/mary-jackson/

Up today, one of my favorite episodes featuring Pauline Mead Patraw, the first woman to serve as a Ranger-Naturalist at the Grand Canyon. When the forest service said they didn't hire women, she called up the National Park Service instead, and got the job: https://introductionsnecessary.com/podcast/pauline-mead-patraw/

When Alice Evans saw the link between raw cow's milk and brucellosis, one man said that if it was real, "somebody smarter" would have already figured it out.

The link was real, and when the dairy industry began to pasteurize milk, saving countless lives.
