So this is my completed reading for the month of February. Another book to focus on my health as a "mature woman" lol, The Natural Menopause Handbook. This book is filled with tea and tincture recipes for common symptoms. I also continued the Court of Thorn and Roses Series. I will give my opinion on that series when I finish it . A Year of YES by Shonda Rhymes was so funny and refreshing. It definitely made me think about what I say yes and no to.
The Door of No Return is the BEST book I have read so far this year. This is a tween book about a young man coming of age in Ghana when the Transatlantic Slave Trade was in full swing. It was funny and sad and horrifying and insightful. Most importantly, it was INFORMATIVE. I laughed and cried and was on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading it.
I definitely connected with the characters because of how much time I have spent in Ghana, but anyone would fall in love with the characters. The whole book is written in prose. Although it's a tween book, any adult could enjoy it. There are so many important and difficult themes like slavery, tribal wars, love, hate, and just being a tween.
I read this book on my way from South Africa to Ghana.
