koeosaeme with a new cassette release titled Mauve. This is the newest edition from the Crash Symbols label. One hundred and fifty copies with only twenty two remaining from a yesterday release date. Really beautiful sounds and many listeners floating in the saturated current from this composition as well. ❤️🩷🎶🎶

Excited to see our friends in somesurprises popping through West Virginia, with a great flyer too of course!

This Saturday, May 11th, WTSQ invites you to join us at The Snack Institute located behind Kin Ship Goods at 613 Tennessee Avenue in Charleston, WV. Charleston’s newest all ages DIY performance space will be opening its doors 7pm and show will begin at 8pm featuring two great female fronted bands: Somesurprises from Seattle, WA and The Moon My Twin from Thomas, WV. The Snack Institute offers audience members the option to pay what they can at the door, with a $10 suggested donation. Please know that all the proceeds raised will go to the artists performing for the night.

Somesurprises is the musical project of Egyptian/English American songwriter and guitarist Natasha El-Sergany born in Letterkenny, Ireland and now residing in Seattle, WA. What began as a bedroom project focused on spectral balladry and late-night exploration has evolved into a dynamic four-piece band. Motorik beats, reverb-drenched vocals, washes of fingerpicked guitars, and hazy synths expand El-Sergany’s delicate and blissful songwriting.

Perseids, the band’s first new album since 2019, hearkens back to the raw and powerful voice memos that started the project. Musically, the album draws from a variety of influences, including Stereolab, Cluster, Broadcast, Neu!, Mazzy Star, and Nick Drake. El-Sergany and band are, however, uniquely their own, combining elements of shoegaze, dreampop, drone rock, and experimental improvisation. Plodding through Meta's obtuse "business suite" to let y'all know that Man Rei's new tape Doer is out as of earlier this month! Each tape ships with a custom sky blue pencil with gold foil lettering made by the Musgrave Pencil Company in Shelbyville, Tennessee, established more than 100 years ago in 1916.
