Pop Will Eat Itself - Ich bin Ein Auslander (Droneranger Mix)
I have been a fan of Pop Will Eat Itself since the summer of '94 when I saw this video early in the morning on MTV's 120 minutes' Trent Reznor / Nine Inch Nails edition. Since then I have amassed quite the collection of their music and have recently wanted to remix the original video over a remix of the original song.
The Droneranger Mix of Ich Bin Ein Auslander is slightly different from the original with about 42 seconds of extra content in the beginning and 20 seconds towards the end. Also, as far as I know, this mix can only be found on one of the singles 12" vinyl record release (which I own).
The audio is a real-time record player-to-computer recording in high fidelity. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any versions of the video online that are DVD quality or better, and settled for the best copy I could find. None of the original videos audio was used in this video, it is completely overlayed with a better sounding recording. For the filler parts (as the remixed song is longer than the video content) I filled with various images related to the band, self-generated transition imaging, and re-sampled cuts of the video with visual effects added.
Software used for this includes Adobe Premiere Pro CS5, Audacity, Paint Shop Pro 8.0, BIAS SoundSoap.
Sample It, Loop It, F*ck It, Eat IT
*Audio geek note: The original recording from vinyl was done @ 48Khz, and the audio settings used to encode the video was also @ 48Khz. If YouTube retains the sampling and re-broadcasts to meet the original, and you listen to this through speakers with frequency response greater than 18Khz, the true audio fidelity of vinyl records will be experienced. [I know this is a pretty big IF! ;) ]
