"The 2016 Mental Health and Public Safety Millage was the brainchild of County Commissioner Andy LaBarre (District 7). It was the perfect way to get voters to pony up tens of additional millions for two of the poorest run and least accountable agencies in Washtenaw County (Community Mental Health and the County Sheriff). The Millage was sold to desperate and kind-hearted taxpayers as extra money to expand mental health resources for County residents both through Community Mental Health and the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Dept. Voters were assured the Millage would improve public safety throughout the County.

County Commissioners recently voted to put a renewal of the Millage on the Nov. 2024 ballot.

Andy LaBarre has been on the County’s Millage Advisory Committee (MAC) since 2019 (the first year millage funds were made available to governmental units). Given the pervasive abuse of the Millage funds by CMH and Sheriff’s Dept. leadership uncovered through public records, one concludes the Three Visually Impaired Mice could have done a better job of oversight on the MAC over the past five years. The MAC’s mission? “[T]o provide strategic oversight regarding Washtenaw County’s Public Safety and Mental Health Millage activities and investments.”

The 13-member advisory committee, a subcommittee of the Washtenaw County Community Mental Health Board, was supposed to report to the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners, as required. Talk about the fox guarding the henhouse. Who was ever going to object to Trish Cortes using Mental Health Millage money to pay Issue Media Group for puff “news” coverage of her professional “successes,” or in utilizing her additional millage money on a PR consulting firm, or for buying billboards to benefit a Sheriff candidate’s campaign?"

"MCOLES records obtained by the newspaper show Sheriff’s Deputy D’Angelo McWilliams was hired by Sheriff Jerry Clayton on May 28, 2019. While a student at Eastern Michigan University between 2015 and 2019, McWilliams was investigated by the Eastern Michigan University Police Dept. and the Ypsilanti Police Dept. for allegedly having r***d at least eight co-eds. Former Ypsilanti Police Det. Jessica Lowry investigated the allegations made against McWilliams, as did EMU police officer Susan McLennan. There have been multiple allegations that the Washtenaw County Prosecutor, and the two detectives bungled the investigation.

A former Ypsilanti Police detective alleges EMU’s Chief of Police Bob Heighes and Deputy Chief of Police Daniel Karrick tried to hide the 30 alleged r**es from the public. In 2008, EMU paid the largest ever Clery Act fine for covering up the r**e and murder of student Laura Dickinson.

In 2020, after he’d been hired by Sheriff Clayton as a Deputy, McWilliams reportedly told Ypsilanti Police detectives that Karrick “had cleared him” of the alleged r**es, including alleged gang r**es, which victims said had taken place between 2015 and 2019.

There is a pending federal suit which accuses former EMU Chief of Police Bob Heighes “of receiving knowledge of an assault,” and accusing one of Heighes’s officers of telling a r**e victim “nothing would happen” with prosecution because she reported an assault after two months.

In Aug. 2020, Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Deputy D’Angelo McWilliams was charged, arrested and arraigned for allegedly having committed a dozen s*x crimes linked to the EMU/Ypsilanti Police Dept. investigations, including multiple charges of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the 1st degree. Victims accused McWilliams of having participated in gang r**es.

McWilliams was later bound over to the Washtenaw County Trial Court for trial.

Judge Darlene O’Brien was assigned the McWilliams case. The Sheriff’s Deputy, an alleged s*xual predator facing multiple CSC 1st degree charges, was placed on unpaid leave by the Sheriff. County Prosecutor Eli Savit recommended a $50,000/10 percent bond for Deputy McWilliams. Judge O’Brien approved Savit’s recommendation. McWilliams paid $5,000, and was released in 2020. He continues to reside at his home in Canton, MI.

Court records show that on July 26, 2023, Judge O’Brien continued McWilliams’s bond until August 5, 2024. It is unclear from court records if Judge O’Brien placed McWilliams on an electronic tether. Records do show that McWilliams, through his attorney Douglas Gutscher, has repeatedly asked to have his bond conditions amended, including in Jan. 2023. McWilliams asked Judge O’Brien to be allowed contact with one of his co-defendants, Thomas Hernandez. Records show Judge O’Brien ruled against each request to amend the McWilliams’s bond conditions."

by P.D. LeskoOn March 25, 2024, The Ann Arbor Independent submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to the County Sheriff's Dept. to obtain a copy of the background check done on Sheriff's Deputy D'Angelo Ladonn McWilliams prior to his hiring. M

County records revealed that between 2022-2023, Alize Asberry Payne charged $115,000 to the credit card given to her by Washtenaw County. Along with trips, workshops, conferences, and a $3,700 payment to the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce, she also spent $3,746 to purchase tables at the annual Black and Gold Gala ball. Taxpayers footed the bill for County Administrator Greg Dill, his assistant Crystal Campbell and County Commissioners Justin Hodge, Caroline Sanders and Crystal Lyte to attend the 6-11 p.m. event that included cocktails, live music and dancing.

In 2023, Alize Asberry Payne was paid $147,235.66, according to County records. She was hired as the County’s first “racial equity” officer in 2019, and in 2023 Crain’s Detroit named her “a Notable Leader in DEI.”

Her bio. published on the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce page states, “Her work is centered in ensuring that the most vulnerable have equitable access to resources and the opportunity to thrive.”

Records show the County’s DEI Dir. is using her county-issued credit card and taxpayer funds in notable ways in cities nationwide, including San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Houston, and even internationally.

Alize Asberry Payne’s spending was brought to the attention of The Ann Arbor Independent by a tipster who once worked in Washtenaw County government. The tipster wrote in an email: “Do I sound frustrated? You betcha. As a Washtenaw County taxpayer, I’m more than frustrated, I’m downright angry. Who is overseeing this?”

At a recent “informational meeting” with officials from western Washtenaw County, the Washtenaw County Sheriff Jerry Clayton, The Sheriff’s Dir. of Community Engagement Derrick Jackson (who is presently a candidate for Sheriff) and Lisa Gentz, Community Mental Health Program Administrator – Millage Initiatives, Jail Mental Health Service and Mental Health Court, met with officials to tout the successes of the 1 mill Mental Health and Public Safety Millage. That additional millage is up for renewal in 2026.

“Dog and pony show,” said one of the officials present. “The usual bu****it from the usual bu****itters. We pay the millage and get virtually nothing from it.”

25/02/2024

I had to sincere pleasure of meeting and later interviewing Flint City Councilman Eric Mays, who served a President of the Council during the Flint Water Crisis at a meeting organized by We the People of Detroit.

Councilman Mays discussed with me at the time, as I was a Blogger and Podcast Executive Producer/Host of Independent Underground Radio LIVE w/Monica RW his efforts make the residents of the Northside of Flint whole for a tragedy (tainted & poisoned water) that was NOT of their making nor choice.

Based on what I learned in the interviews with Councilman Mays, I sincerely believe the reason he fought so hard in his seat on the Elected Body is because the North Side of Flint has been one of the MOST AFFECTED areas of loss, suffering and now more tragedy in the untimely loss of their VOICE on the Council, Eric Mays.

Taking a drive in Northside Flint one can quickly, if they care that is, connect with the anger Councilman Mays shown in many videos far and wide.

Whether it is the loss of fresh food grocery shopping on Clio & Pearson Roads (Krogers/Meijjers), a the barried remains of a furneal home which has YET to be properly demolished, or OTHER empty buildings which at one time used to be a LINE of small and medium sized buildings to what is "left" of Flint Northern HIgh School - which has equally been left in tanners and destroyed.

It is almost as it there was strangely some type of systematic plan to not only destroy but leave the residents of North Flint with a daily painful reminders of what had been lost.

I am of the strong belief this was where Eric Mays anger came from as he was the Northern Flint Voice of the People - and those People have carte blanche rights to be downright angry and "uncivil" about what has happened to their community.

What the Traditional Media will equally fail at highlighting, Councilman Mays was a strong Spartan, as a Michigan State University Graduate, which he talked about regularity, including in my two interviews of him.

He equally was a Master of Robert's Rules of Order or what is known as parliamentary procedure. That is why it was hard to silence his Voice for his Constitutents in North Flint.

Those claiming to be in "positions of leadership" would be wise if the body is operated by Bylaws - to take time and actual LEARN, like Councilman Mays did well, the procedures the Body is designed to operate within.

In Closing, I forward my sincere condolences to the Family of Councilman Eric Mays, as well as the People of the Northside of Flint who have lost a True Fighter and Voice on the Flint City Council!

Sincerely,
Monica Ross Williams, MBA; LIA | Executive Producer - Host IU Radio LIVE, former Ypsilanti Ypsilanti Township, MI - Government Trustee & Park Commissioner (2011-2020)

05/01/2024

It all started with a visit to (my favorite Michigan based and operated) coffee place, Biggby Coffee for a Coco Carmela Hot Chocolate with Whipped Cream and caramel drizzle, three and one-half weeks ago (or just before the holidays).

On the window ledge, by the front door, a logo stood out.

As you can see below, the logo was associated with Ypsilanti Township Government, and of course it caught my eye.

The date of the event was long past the Biggby Coffee was around the second week of December 2023. Yet, the flyer was still at the location.

Quickly, invisible question thought bubbles started forming like:

1. Did Ypsilanti Township Gov't Sponsor this event?
2. Did Presidential Candidate Marianne Williamson have any idea her likeness would be used on a flyer where it appeared (turns out, not true at all) a Local Governmental Unit was "sponsoring her visit into town"?
3. Where was the Federal (State and Local) required campaign finance related "Paid For By (Name/Committee)" information?
4. Was the location the event was held a neutral location? I.E. Library or rental location and not associated in anyway with a Not for Profit entity?
5. Who is "Let's talk Ypsi"?

A couple of facts. Ypsilanti Township Government had no idea their Official Logo was used at all on a promotional flyer at all or given any permission to do so.

"Ypsilanti Township Government has never or will ever grant any type of permission to use our Township's Official Government Logo on ANY Political Candidate for Federal, State or Local Public Office related event," said Ypsilanti Township Supervisor Brenda Stumbo when contacted.

Equally, there is a belief (of course) Presidential Candidate Marianne Williamson had NO IDEA her likeness would be used on any flyer with a Municipal Government Unit logo, to allude to readers of the logo her visit was "sponsored" by any governmental entity.

Considering ALL of Ypsilanti Township's Taxpayers and Residents pay for each time the logo is used (in its initial creation, when added onto what is township associated property, clothing, etcetera) it is highly doubtful Candidate Williamson knew anything other than she was coming into town to speak at a location, and it would be promoted - but not in this matter.

Which leave the other three questions:

3. Where was the Federal (State and Local) required campaign finance related "Paid For By (Name/Committee) information?
4. Was the location the event was held a neutral location? I.E. Library or rental location and not associated in anyway with a Not for Profit entity?
5. Who is "Let's talk Ypsi"?

And this one:

6. Who created the flyer?

Open at this time. 🤔

Update 1/5 @ 6:17 pm: Additional questions have been forwarded to the Marianne Williamson Campaign with a Deadline of 1/8 by the EOD.

We would like to make it CLEAR, we have no knowledge or belief at this time, the Marianne Williamson campaign was aware of the flyer, its creation or the unauthorized use of Ypsilanti Township, Michigan Government Official Logo.

It's High Time for a Second Ballot Initiative to end the Michigan "Independent" Elections Commission, who is paid nearly $40K a year via our Taxpayer Revenue, yet have the audacity to believe they are not required to align with the Open Meetings Act on a issue a 3 Judge Federal Panel ruled the Commission drew ILLEGAL & DISCRIMINATORY MAPS.

"Lansing — Michigan's redistricting commission voted 8-1 on Thursday to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court a lower court order requiring a redraw of Detroit-based state House and Senate seats. Two members abstained from the vote and two were absent.

The Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission also will file a motion asking a three-judge panel to halt its order that legislative district boundaries be redrawn while their efforts to appeal to the nation's highest court are pending.

It's unclear on what grounds the redistricting commission will appeal the Dec. 21 federal order since conversations regarding the appeal occurred out of the public eye.

The 13-member commission had no discussion with their lawyers in open or closed session on the merits of an appeal. Instead, eight members met privately with attorneys last week when they were unable to achieve the nine-member quorum required for a closed session.

Thursday's meeting was called with little more than five hours notice, a timeframe that would violate the Open Meetings Act's requirement that public meetings be noticed at least 18 hours ahead of time.

The commission's executive director, Edward Woods, argued the commission, as part of the legislative branch, isn't required to comply with the Open Meetings Act. Instead, he said, the Michigan Constitution imbues the commission with the authority to construct its own procedural rules, including a five-hour notice requirement.

Woods' interpretation appears to clash with the OMA's definition of a public body subject to the 18-hour rule. The act defines a public body as "any state or local legislative or governing body," including a commission created under the constitution that performs a government function."

Michigan's redistricting commission will appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court a court order requiring a redraw of Detroit-based House and Senate seats.

(Ypsilanti Township, Michigan) - Ypsilanti Township, Michigan Board Officials were verbally threatened repeatedly during a Regular Board Meeting by hardened Criminals who brought a gang of Individuals to a Board Meeting on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

Members of the gang stated repeatedly on the record a desire to commit physical violence to a majority of Elected Officials on the Board.

The African-American Members of the Board of Trustees (pictured below) were called Uncle Tom's and Sellouts, repeatedly by the gang calling themselves "a neighborhood watch association" and their self-proclaimed "supporters" at the Meeting.

Some of the "supporters" in attendance included self-alleged Pastors of Local Religious organizations.

Also, in attendance were alleged "Leaders" of Non-Profit organizations including one of "Leaders" forming a group for "Survivors" after being a former failed Actor/Actress, took to singing their threats to a Majority of Ypsilanti Township Board Officials while using religious hymns at the same time.

The gang, who call themselves a "neighborhood watch organization" comprises of a Violent Convicted Murder - who served time from 1975-2019 from a Murder Committed directly in Washtenaw County, Convicted Child Molester - who served upwards of seventeen years in the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) a violent & s*xual act against a Child and Violent Convicted Bank Robber, the latter of whom served 10 years in Federal Prison.

The Majority of the Ypsilanti Township Board of Trustees sought to pass a Resolution to remove the gang "leaders" calling themselves "a neighborhood watch association" from their "activities" in the Community, which presents a material breach of the Contractual Agreement Ypsilanti Township Government has with the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department.

It is unknown with the Material Breach of the Contractual Agreement for Police Services, if Ypsilanti Township Government will seek a Dissolution of the agreement in the days and months ahead.

If the contractual agreement is Dissolved by the terms noted in the Contract, the State Police is required by Michigan's Constitution would temporarily provide Law Enforcement Services to Ypsilanti Township until it is assumed, a internal Law Enforcement Department solely managed by Ypsilanti Township Government is formed.

By the same Michigan Constitution, the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department are required to provide Jail Services.

The gang passing off as "a neighborhood watch association" has the full support of the Washtenaw County Sheriff, the Washtenaw County Sheriff's alleged "Director of Community Engagement" - who is running for Sheriff, the entire Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners and a non-elected County Executive, who took time to allegedly threaten the Board themselves along four County Commissioners in attendance, accomphing him - hereby forming a Elected and/or Appointed quasi gang themselves at the meeting

The gang in question, calling themselves "a neighborhood watch association" was provided funding by the entire Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners and a non-elected County Executive from the American Recuse Plan Act Funding in 2022, to the tune of $1.2 Million Dollars - while the average Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for rent has increased from 2022-2023 between 200-350%.

No support from the $71 Million dollars allocated in American Recuse Plan Act was targeted towards direct financial relief for All Residents of Washtenaw County experiencing the Rental Increases, including Vulnerable Seniors in the County.

It should be duly noted, Washtenaw County Government is singularity controlled by self-proclaimed Democrats - and there are no Republicans or Independents serving in any Elected or Appointed role in their Governmental Structure.

A single Elected Official on the Ypsilanti Township Trustees, the Clerk of Ypsilanti Township, stated on the record they supported the gang of hardened Criminals calling themselves "a neighborhood watch association" and their associated gang cohorts "Patrolling" the Community, it is assumed to gain their support and votes.

It should be duly noted as well the Elected Congressperson it is believed is well-aware of the high questionable funding appropriation to the gang themselves "a neighborhood watch association" repeated and intensive verbal threats to a Majority of the Ypsilanti Township Board of Trustees - as displayed Publicly at the Board Meeting on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

Yet, the Congressperson appears to be actively ignoring any and all calls for intervention into what was Federal Taxpayer Funding provided to the gang calling themselves "a neighborhood watch association" with the American Recuse Plan Act Funding, the Congressperson voted into law.

Hey Supporters! We just heard 910am Superstation-WFDF is no more.

That's shocking and sad for its hosts who we heard might have found out by an email over a phone call. Either way, that is why YOU OWN YOUR OWN CONTENT as only then, you CONTROL WHAT HAPPENS.

Meanwhile for some of you now for the FIRST TIME connecting to this page (it's been around for a minute now which is why there are nearly 8K followers):

Welcome to Independent Underground Radio LIVE w/Monica RW & Independent Underground Radio Network. We are the LONGEST Urban Talk Show & Network based out of Detroit, Michigan operating since 2007.

So, let's connect you quickly with our Herstory.

In 2007, there was a lady who started a Podcast on BlogTalkRadio called then "Reach Out, Job Search".

The Podcast was based on supporting individuals who were then "Long-Term Unemployed" and called the "99ers" as they were in many cases up to that point, nearing 99 weeks or more on Unemployment with no job aspects in site.

Ironically, today - long-term unemployment can be a mainstay for many based on our economy with "Bidennomics"🙄 - but we will leave that topic to another day.

The 99er movement was small but mighty - going all the way to Washington, DC to speak in a press conference with the Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D - California) lending her support for the expansion then of Unemployment Benefits 24 additional weeks with HR 610. The movement also had support in Michigan from US Senator Debbie Stabenow (D).

Unfortunately, the pending bill never made it out of committee although it was spoken on, on the US House and Senate floors by Congresswoman Lee and Senator Stabenow.

"Reach Out, Job Search" continued until 2009, and in 2010, became re-branded as Independent Underground Radio LIVE w/Monica RW.

The Podcast was still streamed on BlogTalkRadio, focused on many topics including Long-Term Unemployment, Politics, Current Events, Constitutional Topics and more and was originally Co-Hosted by Monica RW & Autumn S.

The show WON the Former Radio One (Now Urban One) Best Political Podcast Award in 2010 and Co-Host Monica RW received a Scholarship to " Netroots Nation" for her reporting on many hot topics including her and Autumn S. reporting of a then Second Recall Attempt of former Michigan Governor Rick Snyder (R) and how the "recall" was really a data generation operation.

in 2012, Independent Underground Radio expanded to a Network with Co-Host Autumn S. branching out to host her own show "Constitutionally Speaking with Autumn S." and adding "Penny Politics" with Host Penny S. and "3rd Wave Feminism" with Jenni W.

The Network format continued until 2015, when Monica RW placed the network on Hiatus for personal reasons and only then podcasting on a intermittent basis.

So, now you know, Independent Underground Radio LIVE w/Monica RW page has been around for AWHILE and equally, you know its' Herstory.

In that way, you are invited here as we are BACK again - but in a different format. Livestreaming on a Bi-Weekly basis with Monica RW and our shows will ONLY be posted here via StreamYard.

We are coming BACK Officially on Sunday's at 11:00 am ET for a 2 hour Bi-Weekly Format discussing INDEPENDENT (As We Are Not Beholden To Neither Donkeys or Elephants) Politics (Federal, State, Local) LIFE MATTERS Insurance (Life, Health, Wealth, Medicare), SOCIAL COMMENTARY (Current Events) and more.
