ABC 7 Chicago reporter Diane Pathieu has been promoted to traffic anchor, it was announced today by John Idler, President & General Manager, ABC 7, effective immediately. Replacing longtime traffic anchor Roz Varon, Chicago native Pathieu will officially join the ABC 7 Eyewitness Morning News team for weekday newscasts, 4:30-7:00 a.m. Her traffic reports will also be featured on the station’s 7 a.m. streaming newscast, and she will continue the popular Festival Friday and Weekender segments every Friday on the 11 a.m. newscast.

According to Idler, “Diane has done a fantastic job connecting with our viewers and making a seamless transition to the traffic role after Roz Varon’s retirement. She is professional and concise, and commuters trust her to help get them where they need to go.”

Pathieu joined ABC 7 Chicago as a reporter in 2011.vPrior to joining the station, she was a reporter/anchor at WTMJ4 in Milwaukee. She got her start at KFXB-TV in Dubuque, Iowa.

Born and raised in the Rogers Park neighborhood, Pathieu is a first-generation American. Her family hails from Lebanon and Syria, and are fluent in the Assyrian language.
