The dialogue came to mind when God asked Job “where were you when I created the very foundations of the earth?” (Job 38). God, the creator, set Job, the created, straight. Life sure has its ups and downs, regrets and accomplishments, mistakes and victories.
I was just so fascinated with the rocks, the massive boulders, the trees, nature itself. Things I’ve often taken for granted, the squirrels, deer, bunnies, the birds of the air. I began asking the Lord in his wisdom what was he thinking when he created these beautiful things.… the sound of a babbling brook, the smell of fall leaves, the cool fall air, all of it.
It struck me just how precious the gift of salvation is. Truly knowing him and being known by him. He created us all so uniquely, just like the trees, none of them are the same. None of them produce the same amount of leaves. All of creation tells a unique story, all of it orchestrated by the one who has your very best in mind. He is madly in love with his creation.
I love to travel, new destinations are such a gift. But I’ve learned that eternal life, being in him, is more than I could ever desire. I’ve been all over the world, but even in my own back yard I get to experience the beauty, the splendor, the majesty, the wonder because it’s all in him.
It was all made in him, through him and for him. (Colossians 1:16).
I was noting the leaves in their fall beauty, they are magnificent as they are dying. There’s even something beautiful about the process of dying to things. The leaves that were closer to the branch stayed greener longer. It made me think of John 15 and the importance of abiding and dwelling in him.
Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:3) If you’re in Christ, you are already in eternity.
Be you, no one else out there can be who you were created to be. And no one else out there will ever have what’s meant for you. The creator is pleased with his creation.
Who are you, a mere human being, to argue with God? Should the thing that was created say to the one who created it, “Why have you made me like this?” When a potter makes jars out of clay, doesn’t he have a right to use the same lump of clay to make one jar for decoration and another to throw garbage into? (Romans 9:20-21)
Embrace who you are, the season you’re in and the process you’re walking through. 🍁🍂
