📣 Attention parents & fans!
December 29, 2023
Parents and spectators,
The TASO official's organization has implemented a new three strike policy! After three incidents in which any spectator has to be removed at the request of the official, the organization may refuse to officiate our games. Without officials, we will not be able to play any games. We are currently at strike one in this three-strike policy, due to a spectator being removed from a contest. Celeste ISD will begin hosting games without spectators before we get to strike three and have the TASO organization refuse to officiate our games. We will not jeopardize our student athletes the right to play the sport they love because our spectators cannot exhibit self-control and sportsmanship.
Our goal at Celeste ISD is to provide a safe and positive environment so our kids can enjoy athletics and hopefully learn life long lessons that will help them as they navigate through adulthood. As parents and spectators, we are supposed to be a positive example for our student athletes, as well as those students in the stands. Spectators must understand that questioning calls by officials, expressing dissatisfaction with officiating, and officiating from the stands does not set the positive example that is desired by Celeste ISD. We ask that from this point forward you provide positive verbal support for the teams playing, and not complain to or ridicule either team, its fans, the game officials, or coaches.
If you are removed from a game by the officials, administration, or security officer on duty, you will not be allowed to enter the next official contest until you meet with the Superintendent and Athletic Director and may be banned from all future UIL contests for up to one calendar year.
Sincerely,
Brad Connelly
Superintendent
