Avoid ending sentences with multiple ???. One ? is enough. Your power words should indicate an authentic question and save readers from smacking themselves and screaming when they see, “Are you ever coming home??????”

What is the solution? Emphasize the power word "ever" by italicizing, and use just one question mark.
Editors will cut multiple marks in a nanosecond. Save them the anguish.

What are the differences between the 5-Day Challenge and 45-Day Program, and which one should I register for?

These valuable writing programs help nonfiction authors at different stages of their writing journeys.

The 5-Day Challenge is a quick sprint for aspiring nonfiction authors just getting started. You'll brainstorm, get organized, and even draft part of a chapter! Perfect for a kick-start!

The 45-Day Program is a marathon for writers ready to commit. Build habits and crush procrastination with daily, intentional focus. Create your writing rhythm to craft your preliminary table of contents, your preface, and the basis for a few chapters. What are you waiting for?

Take one or do both in succession—many authors start with the challenge and continue with the program to stay on track.

Ready to move your book forward? 🚀

In celebration of World Braille Day, I honor Grace, who wrote her book in braille and then had it transcribed so I could edit it. What an honor!
Kudos to Louis Braille, who was blinded at the age of three and invented the system in 1824 while a student at the Institution Nationale des Jeunes Aveugles (National Institute for Blind Children), Paris.

Have you chosen your word for the year? The word that represents your goals, your focus, your intentions for 2026?

I thought long and hard, went back and forth, consulted some inspirational sources, and decided on. . . drum roll, please. . . embrace!

Embrace new ventures-
Embrace new adventures-
Embrace my fears, my shortcomings, and the unknown-
Embrace authentic relationships-
Embrace the present-
Embrace creativity and those who show it-
Embrace my story--and others'
Embrace peace, justice, and kindness-
Embrace patience-

Now I can write it on my mirror, put it in my calendar, and paste it on my forehead.

What's your word for the year? I'd love to see it in the comments.

Think about “Into” vs. “In to." Every once in a while, I have to think about this one too.
These two look similar, but they’re not interchangeable.

"Into" is a single word used when something enters, joins, or becomes part of something else.
Think motion or transformation.
✅ “Pour milk into your coffee.”
✅ “She walked into the room.”
✅ “They turned the spare room into an office.”

“In to” stays two words when it belongs to a verb phrase and to starts the next word.
A tiny pause between them often helps.
✅ “Do not give in to temptation.”
✅ “He checked in to complain about the noise.”
✅ “We’re moving in to help my mother.”

Check this out:
🚫 No: “Into the highway”
✅ Yes: Merge onto the highway, then drive on to your next destination.”

When in doubt, ask:
Am I entering or transforming something? → into
Is “in” part of a verb? → in to

Are you keeping track of my tips that often trip you up?
I do.

Happy Kwanzaa!
Important facts:
· Activist Maulana Karenga created Kwanzaa in 1966 as an opportunity for Black Americans to reaffirm their African roots and strengthen their bonds after the Watts Riot.
· The holiday is cultural, not religious.
· The red candles represent the struggle; the green represent the land and hope for the future; the black represents people of African descent.
