Lately, there's been reported multiple cases with similar pattern of killings and armed robbery orchestrated by men in military uniforms in Lagos.
Information at our disposal indicates that the killers who reportedly operate around Ikeja, Oshodi and Ojodu-Berger axis mount late night checkpoints and target lone drivers who they rob and kill. At least 3 cases have been reportedly confirmed.
Lagos West Senator Olamilekan Adeola aka Yayi has also raised an alarm on this as his senior aide, Adeniyi Oluwatosin Sanni, in the early hours of Saturday August 5, 2023 fell victim on his way home towards Isheri.
Sanni was stopped at a checking point around Ojodu- Berger Area of Lagos by ‘security agents’ who asked him to provide the documents of the car he was driving, which he did through a call to his wife who sent all the documents to his phone WhatsApp.
That was the last she heard from her husband and the body of Mr. Sanni, ridden with bullets, was later discovered at Toyota Bus Stop area of Oshodi, close to a military barrack.
The state assembly lawmakers on Tuesday confirmed the cases and called on Gov Sanwo-olu to summon a security meeting.
Speaker, Dr. Obasa, who stressed that security of lives and property is one essence of government, added: "Where we begin to have one, two, three killings in the State, it definitely calls for concern.
"At least three people have been declared dead, said to be killed by men in either Police or Army uniforms and we cannot conclude if they are security men or otherwise."
Hon. Joseph Kehinde Joseph (Alimosho 2) recalled that earlier in August, 2023, a resident, Adeniyi Sanni, was murdered. He said there were two other incidents on August 17 and August 19.
"The funny thing is that the series of killings took the same pattern. Adeniyi Sanni's wife told me that her husband was stopped at a checkpoint by men in military uniforms. They requested for documents which the wife sent through WhatsApp to him. His corpse was later found somewhere.

NDLEA launches manhunt for Lekki drug dealer who crushed operative to escape arrest
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has launched a manhunt for a Lekki Lagos-based notorious drug dealer, Sowunmi Ayodeji Kayode, who is now on the run after driving his luxury car to crush an NDLEA officer in his bid to escape arrest when operatives were on a search of his house last weekend. A statement released by the agency's spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, says the anti-narcotics officers of the Agency had on Friday August 18 stormed the residence of the wanted drug dealer located at Number 2/3 Adetola Ayeni close, Lekki, Lagos for a search and possible arrest following credible intelligence that he was dealing in illicit drugs in his house.
‘’Although he was not in the house when operatives got into his compound, he however returned while a search of his apartment was ongoing. In a dramatic twist, as soon as he drove into the premises and sighted NDLEA officers, he engaged his car in reverse gear, knocked down one of the officers, pulled down his gate before plunging the vehicle into the fence of the opposite compound. The force of his car’s speed also pulled down the concrete wall of his neighbour’s compound and from there he dived out of the vehicle to escape.''
Babafemi said a thorough search of his apartment however led to the recovery of 10.5 kilograms of Loud, while the operative knocked down suffered multiple injuries all over his body and compound fracture on his two legs, for which he is currently on hospital admission for treatment.
‘’Following the unpleasant development, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) has directed the deployment of appropriate operational assets of the Agency to smoke out the wanted suspect from his hiding. He also approved adequate medical care for the injured officer so that he can get back on his feet as soon as possible.'' Babafemi said

Nigerian actor, Soji Taiwo, also known as Omo Banke, has revealed why he made an unexpected return to the country after spending a long time in the United States of America.
He set a lot of tongues wagging when he relocated to the US years ago, but in an interesting turn of events, returned to his motherland.
Omo Banke said the reason he came back was so that he could be a part of the rapidly evolving new Nollywood era where he gets to star in some of the chart-topping movies like King of Thieves and Jagun Jagun.
The actor, who opened up about how his career has taken a new turn since his return, expressed joy at some of the high-budget Yoruba movies in the industry.
Soji said; “This is the best thing that could happen to Nollywood at the moment. I give kudos to the actors and filmmakers who are working hard to change the narrative in the industry. I also cannot wait to shoot movies such as ‘Jagun Jagun’ (The Warrior), and ‘Ageshinkole’ (King of Thieves).
“That is what I want, and I know my fans want me to do something like that as well. That was why I returned from the United States of America. I am back for good, and for more progress and success.
I would like to see more high-budget Yoruba films such as ‘Jagun Jagun’. And, that is already happening. I am so happy about that.”
The actor also stated that he was not bothered by the rumours circulating about the nature of job he was doing in the United States.
He said; “I was not bothered about the rumours of what I was doing in America. I knew I was still coming back to Nigeria, and I’m back now. And, I have so many things ahead.
