echolot is a Hamburg-based netlabel for electronic music founded in 2011 by Lars Kemnitz as a platform to share and promote his music and those of his friends. Its maritime origins are mirrored in the label's name which is German and means a sonar enabling ships to navigate safely through shoals. It operates with acoustic signals to scan the seafloor and is supposed be understood as a metaphor in
this case. Being on the lookout for new electronic music echolot is as well a playground where experiments can take place. The primary aim is not to release dancefloor music but exciting and inspiring productions. Instead, it considers itself a melting pot of various influences.
