Word-o-Mat is a vending machine designed to satisfy your cravings for language. Word-o-Mat aims to make buying and reading high calibre writing a joy.

It was born out of a love affair between short stories, zines and clunky machinery. Short pieces of new writing from all over the world are published in zine format and distributed from a vintage vending machine in Malmö, Sweden. Readers can take their pick from a selection of zines, which are rotated regularly, and for a few pennies take their pocket-sized treat to read whenever they fancy a book

break. Submissions are now open. WHO’S BEHIND IT? Charlotte Ormston is a literary events co-ordinator from Scotland who is currently based in Malmo. She is passionate about promoting new writers and new work to new audiences. She’s worked with literature festivals in Edinburgh, London and Montreal as well as running her own spoken word nights in Bloomsbury, London. She knows what challenges new writers face and wants to get varied, good work out to readers in a fun, physical format.
