World Press Freedom Day. Do not forgot that the stories that you read and the issues that help inform you are brought to you by journalist and photographers. Today I’m remembering my friend and fellow journalist Dom Phillips. Together we set out on an expedition to the one of the most remote region in the World, The Javari Valley, Amazon. In the quest to finalised his book Dom would return with indigenista Bruno Pereira. They were brutally murdered trying to bring us the story of Climate destruction. Dom’s book ( How to Save the Amazon) to which he gave his life will be published in the UK on the anniversary of his death on June 5, London, UK.

Parliament needs more people like Natalie Fleet. Her journey to being the first Female MP for Bolsover was not written in a private school covenant or accessed through patronage. She still lives in the mining community that she grew up in. Her welcome into her home was high energy. I was there because she was campaigning for change in the law to prevent rapists from having access to the children conceived as a result of the attack. She has spoken personally about her own experience of being groomed age 15 (statutory r**e) and the birth of her daughter. “ To have a child conceived at 15 felt as bad as it gets,” she said. Her daughters angels wings were hanging from the hall. It seemed right to try to reference a young girls childhood, her pasts long shadow and her strength of character to move forward.
