Hey šŸ‘‹ Iā€™m Shane!!

Quick introduction or re introduction for some!! Iā€™m 36 years old and Iā€™m born and raised here in the treasure valley of Idaho!!

āž”ļø Iā€™ve been podcasting for the last 8 years and thoroughly enjoy the conversations Iā€™ve had and relationships Iā€™ve built during this time!! Checkout The Gametime Guru if you want to learn some cool things from sports figures from all over the globe šŸŽ™ļø

āž”ļø Graduated from Boise State University with a Bachelors in Communication!

āž”ļø Full Time Job: Iā€™m a Director of Marketing Services

āž”ļø I have the three beautiful kiddos!! Theyā€™re my world and I love them tons! Being a dad is one of the best blessings anyone could ask for!!

āž”ļø My wife is Taylor (I call her Taytor) and weā€™ve been together since February of 2015 and married since June of 2016!! Sheā€™s an inspiration to me and the best thing to happen to me in a time where my life was just floating around in darkness ā¤ļø

āž”ļø While Iā€™m a Boise State Grad, and I love the Broncos, Iā€™m also a MAJOR Buckeyes fan!! No I didnā€™t grow up in Ohio. In fact I have ZERO Ohio ties. I just love Ohio State because of Eddie George so Iā€™ve cheered for them since I was about 7 years old! šŸ† (National Champs Baby!!)

āž”ļø I love sports!! And while Iā€™m no longer what I once was on the basketball court, I still enjoy playing (sometimes) and being around it (coaching and spectating)

āž”ļø I am a believer in Jesus Christ! I love Him and He guides me and my decisions! Iā€™m open about that and while I donā€™t press my views on people, I also donā€™t shy away from them.

I enjoy audiobooks on sports figures, leadership, business, and gospel related topics. I also enjoy running long distance because it allows me to push myself in ways I didnā€™t really think I could!!

Come give me a follow and checkout the podcast if youā€™d like!! šŸ¤

The reason I was smiling in this photo, wasnā€™t just because we had won the game against Oregon in the Rose Bowl!

It was because I knew this team had what it took to get through the championship!! With the game against Tennessee, I had a ā€œfeelingā€ but then seeing them play Oregon in person in the Rose Bowl, you could see the speed difference, the coaching difference, the energy difference, the culture differenceā€¦ it was special!!

That was the moment I truly believed they would make it through and become national champions!!

They had some battles, but man, that was a really fun playoff to watch!!! Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, Notre Dameā€¦ incredible run after what seemed like the ā€œend of the worldā€ in Ohio States world (after TTUN)

January 23rd, 2008... 17 years ago.

I landed in Sao Paulo to begin my two-year church mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. And as I sit back and reflect on that experience, Iā€™m extremely grateful for all of it.

I was 19 years old. And while I believe I had faith, I didnā€™t really have a strong relationship with Jesus Christ. It took a LOT of work to get prepared to even go on a mission, and I credit a lot of my progression to the example of my friends. (many who were members of the same church and many who werenā€™t, they were all great influences on me and Iā€™m grateful for them)

Those two years allowed me to TRULY know Jesus on a very personal level, and I do NOT take that for granted

Those two years in Brazil gave me a lot of perspective on the world. It gave me perspective on life. And Iā€™m so grateful for that foundation that it built for me.

I have leaned on that foundation MANY times throughout the last 15 years since being home. I mean, there was a good THREE YEAR hiatus that I had, where I distanced myself from church, from God, from everything in that regard. But what I learned is that my Savior never left my side. Just like during those two-years on my mission, He was there right next to me, He was also right by my side throughout all of my life, even when I had distanced myself from Him.

My mission was amazing! Iā€™m grateful for the ups and downs. Iā€™m grateful to know a different language and to be able to communicate to people in other parts of the world because of that. Iā€™m grateful for the habits it helped build for me. Iā€™m grateful for all of it!

While I canā€™t believe it was 17 years ago, sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday. I feel like so much has happened between then and now, but I can remember it VIVIDLY and I love reflecting on those times!

āž”ļø GTG Through the Years āž”ļø

It started with ā€œ208 Sports Reviewā€ and then went through some changes in the cover art throughout!

Constantly evolving, and every one of the logos had a different story behind it!

All part of the story!

8 Year Anniversary šŸŽ™ļøšŸ„‚

Thank you to EVERYONE for support along the way. Today I decided to have Decker film me as we recorded a bit of the origin story of GTG ā¤ļø

Sit back and listen to this one (it may be a few minutes) and hear the story of how GTG started!

Obviously thereā€™s so much more that goes into this show. So much that I learned. Things Iā€™ve tried along the way. But this is a quick recap of some of the pieces!

When we started this thing, I had goals and aspirations, and Iā€™ve surpassed everything I thought possible!! And now, as the owner and founder, I will continue to move forward as we grow to new heights!

If you have questions on podcasting, PLEASE reach out to me! I may not do social media very well, but I DO know how to run a successful podcast! Hit me up! šŸ¤

ā€œThe Granddaddy of them Allā€ šŸŒ¹

Something special about this place! Unbelievable venue and atmosphere for this game! The scenes were marvelous in Pasadena! Tailgating scene was so cool. The fan fest was great and the game itself was fantastic.

This is my 3rd College Football Playoff game Iā€™ve been to of Ohio State and this is the first WIN Iā€™ve witnessed. So while itā€™s frustrating for Taylor and the other Oregon fans, Iā€™m going to soak this one up and take it in!!

What a cool year though. We got to see two games together with Ohio State and Oregon and two trips together for it!!

Sometimes itā€™s important to stop and smell the roses!

In My Element šŸŽ™ļøāœØ

Listen, Iā€™m not great in many things in life.
I fall short in many areas...

But I will say this: Iā€™ve grown immensely over the last 5-10 years, and Iā€™m grateful for that.

Itā€™s not because Iā€™m ā€œgreatā€ at thingsā€”itā€™s because Iā€™ve tried to remain **consistent** in what I do and continue to show up.

Outside of my relationship with my family and my relationship with Jesus, one thing that brings me happiness isā€¦

**my podcast!**

(Weird sounding, I know. But hear me out.)

The conversations I get to have with people on a weekly basis continue to drive me.

They motivate me throughout each week, and I *still* (after 8 years) look forward to these interviews because theyā€™re fun for me.

Iā€™ve had the chance to speak with people I never thought Iā€™d meet, learn from them, and LAUGH with them!

Some of the people I grew up watching in sports have been on **MY SHOW,** and Iā€™ve been able to build relationships and connect with them.

Thatā€™s something that brings me so much happiness.

Why though? Well...

It gives me the opportunity to disconnect from the day-to-day grind and plug into **MY WORLD of sports.**

My domain. My platform.

A space I built back in 2017 through hard work and consistency, where I get to have meaningful conversations about something I loveā€¦

SPORTS

Again, Iā€™m not great at many things.
I fall short in most areas.

But if thereā€™s one thing Iā€™ll say Iā€™m ā€œabove averageā€ at, itā€™s this:
**interviewing and running a show.**

Iā€™ve built this platform, and it truly brings me joy.

Iā€™m so grateful for the opportunity to speak with incredible people about something I love.

For just a few hours a week, I get to be in my elementā€”and that is such a blessing!

For anyone who feels like theyā€™re in the middle of the ā€œstormā€ I can say thisā€¦ one thing I learned this past month is th...

For anyone who feels like theyā€™re in the middle of the ā€œstormā€ I can say thisā€¦ one thing I learned this past month is that ā€œitā€™s never as bad as it seems in the middle of it allā€

Read through the photos to hear that story but man, Iā€™m telling you, when youā€™re going through hard times (for me it was losing my dog and the 25,000 + dollars of vet bills that came with it), just embrace it while youā€™re in it but also realize that it WILL be okay!! Give yourself time to get through it and know it will be easier to focus when itā€™s over!!

What I initially thought was so ā€œstressfulā€ now doesnā€™t seem so daunting!! Itā€™s alright! The financial stress isnā€™t there anymore like I initially thought, and the emotional stress of losing both pups in a 2 month window has been alleviated as well.

Iā€™ve been blessed in many ways! I have a great job. Two successful businesses. I have a great family and great friends. I have a great work ethic. I have great examples of leadership around me. All of those things have allowed me to get through this and realize ā€œyeah it wasnā€™t nearly as bad as I thought and Iā€™m going to be just fineā€

Iā€™m truly thankful! Thankful for those around me and thankful for struggles because they truly make us stronger!

Happy Thanksgiving!! šŸā¤ļø

Itā€™s always been a struggle. The ā€œcrossoverā€

āž”ļø Podcast listeners, listen to podcasts
āž”ļø Instagram followers stay on Instagram
āž”ļø YouTube peeps, stick to YouTube
āž”ļø TikTokers are on TikTok

Point is, rarely do they actually cross over to other platforms!

Iā€™ve always been a podcaster. Itā€™s only been a few years that Iā€™ve used Social Media to promote the show. And itā€™s been even less time that I actually focused on YouTube too. Being a one man band can be tough when youā€™re trying to consistently build on each platform!!

The cool part?! Itā€™s taught me so much! I have a good time connecting with my followers regardless of the platform. Ultimately I want people to come listen to my podcast, but even for those who donā€™t, I still enjoy meeting them and interacting with other sports fans ā¤ļø

I have listeners from all over the world who have never followed me on social media and followers on social who have never listened to an episode of my show.

Rather than staying frustrated with it, I have embraced the good that comes from it all and with the people Iā€™ve connected with!

So whether you follow me on social or youā€™ve listened to my show, or both, thank you for being along with me on this journey šŸ¤

So unbelievably proud of Decker (Mr. QB1) šŸˆ

The season ended in a hard fought loss to an undefeated team in the Championship game. šŸ„²

We lost 22-14 (it was 16-14 with a minute to go and we ended up giving up a touchdown). The team we played had beaten their opponents by an average of 25 points a game. So for us to give them all they could handle, was something special to witness ā¤ļø We finished with a 6-2 record and a 2nd place finish šŸ„ˆ

Decker was heartbroken. But honestly, as a parent, itā€™s an important way to teach kids that sometimes you can give everything youā€™ve got, and still come up short, so you have to accept it and learn. I love this kid!! I love his passion. And it was super difficult to see him be sad after the loss, but I was so proud of him and just wanted to squeeze him.

Coach Kevin gave Decker some amazing opportunities to grow! Decker played a lot of quarterback and became more and more confident at the position as the season went on! I was so impressed with how composed he was in the championship game.

I seriously canā€™t explain the excitement as a parent when you see your kid loving something so much, and growing so much!!

Proud of him and proud of this team! Considering we couldnā€™t execute a handoff in our first few practices, to actually making it to the championship game and actually being in a position to possibly win it a few times, Iā€™m extremely impressed with how quickly these young kiddos began picking things up!

So glad to see Decker making friends that he gets to compete with. He was sad knowing he might not see his friends for a while and that also broke my heart. But thatā€™s why sports are so incredibleā€¦ they bring people together!

From 2008-2010, I served a church mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

In 2017 I started The Gametime Guru Podcast and always wondered if the show would catch on over there in Brazil. It has always seemed that podcasts (at least mine) weren't too popular, probably because of the language barrier for it.

But this week, the show charted in the Top 150 of Sports Podcasts on Apple Podcasts in Brazil! I was super happy to see that. Especially when I look at this list and realize the other shows that are listed around mine as well.

To think, I'm up there with the Pat Bev podcast and the Locked On podcasts is amazing to me, considering this is done from my home and was started in my kitchen in 2017.

Happy to see the show continue to grow as we continue pushing content after 8 years of consistent work!

Thank you Brazil for showing some serious support!

In 2016 I went to my first Ohio State game in person. And at that time I made a goal to go and watch bigger games as often as I could. And this is exactly why!! You get to witness stuff like this!

One of the greatest games Iā€™ve ever been to in my lifetime! While Ohio State didnā€™t pull it off, thereā€™s something special about being there in person to see this type of heavyweight battle!!

Autzen, while not very big comparison to some places, is LOUD!! The vibes were incredible.. from the pregame playlist on the loudspeaker, to the songs between quarters, to the field storming at the endā€¦.Autzen did not disappoint!!

This literally was one of the best atmospheres Iā€™ve been to and thatā€™s including the College Football Playoffs!

Grateful for my partner in crime and the one I get to experience these trips with ā¤ļø

At least was happy šŸ’Ŗ

Origin of The Gametime Guru

The Gametime Guru is different than other sports podcasts because itā€™s DIFFERENT. Iā€™m not going to simply provide you with draft analysis, scores, breakdowns, etc. Instead, I provide others with a platform where they can share their stories.

See, sports can teach us so many lessons. Athletes and other sports figures have a story to share, but they donā€™t always have a platform on which they can share it. Thatā€™s what Iā€™m here for.

We will provide you with weekly shows with various individuals around the world of sports. Our goal? To deliver a panoramic view on sports and help you see them through a different lens.

Subscribe to the show on your favorite platform and make sure to take part in the discussions we have on our social platforms as we continue to shine a positive light on the world of sports.
