You’re so hungry & feel terrible about it. 🙄
That hunger is a good thing.
I’m gonna tell you why...⬇️

When we are pregnant the hunger hormone is suppressed or not produced in large amounts. Ghrelin one of the hormones that are involved in appetite regulation. 🥘

These levels gradually increase during lactation. 📈

In short, your body knows the nutrient intake you need and therefore makes you super hungry during that time. 💪🏾

Eat the food. Eat the good stuff. Eat the stuff that makes you happy. 🤩

Prioritize taking care of intentionally for minimum 4️⃣0️⃣ days…

Did you know that in other cultures when a mom had a baby she would move 𝘉𝘈𝘊𝘒 home with her mother for 6 weeks?!

…During this time mother in laws, grandmothers, aunts, etc. would carry this mom through this time…for forty days as she regained vitality & healing ❤️‍🩹

When trying to increase oxytocin (bonding (love) hormone between you and baby…find something that you love about your baby and kiss it 1000xs a day!

When I first started nursing my son, my favorite is always those newborn baby hands. I would pick up one of his hands and kiss if and sniff it while nursing and randomly throughout the day.

At 15mos he now does this on his own when he nurses. Yes as a form or habit, but it’s also a bonding thing I initiated from birth.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗼?

Sniffing your baby and smelling that UHMAZING newborn baby smell does not occur by chance but rather is a carefully concocted perfume of biological mechanisms evolved to trigger maternal bonding. This includes smelling, kissing, touching, and for some moms licking their babies which is 1000% the mammalian norm. 🤎

So if you’re struggling with supply and doing all the things. The chances could very well be that you aren’t sniffing that baby enough! If you’re having a hard stressful day, simply putting up a baby foot to your mouth or nose or face, or their hand, or their head creates this powerful surge of domapine and oxytocin!!!🌈
