From time to time other artists come to me to ask what it's like working with Jim Semonik at Distortion Productions, LLC. Though I would always encourage you to talk to me one on one, there are some truths that I can state here for those of you shopping a label.

Aside from constantly vetting new artists and doing all that tedious behind the scenes work that brings our music to market (streaming, etc), Jim is perpetually working on his next DP compilation like the Electronic Saviors: Industrial Music to Cure Cancer series and movie soundtrack cover comps like "Be One of Us". He also spends a significant amount of time and effort traveling all over the US to festivals and cons to vend OUR work.

All this on top of having his own project Red Lokust, and working as a Pittsburgh area promoter and DJ.

And if you are looking, you should get a good taste of what is out there and talk to multiple labels to find your best fit - chances are, Jim is good friends and may work with them also.

But for me, it's that he's the guy you can trust and has your back. It is absolutely his greatest wish for all of us that we outgrow him. And that goes a long way when you put your art into someone else's hands.

This is my attempt at making Distortion vinyl a regular thing but of course if it doesn't turn out to be viable at least I know I tried.
