Well, it's been awhile since I posted anything on Facebook but I do have some good news this time. On Memorial Day, I launched a new podcast series featuring seven to eight different stories from my archive of recorded family stories. I did this because I've never seen the social fabric of our nation so at risk of being torn apart by largely manufactured differences in political, cultural, and religious viewpoints. I have always been impressed with how the telling and listening to family stories, as familiar and simple as they mostly are, has a way of dispelling such differences by reminding us of our human condition and that we have a rich and complex shared history as Americans and we're in this together whether we like it or not, pretty much how it is with the families we were born into. I have posted six episodes so far, each about 40 minutes long, and the most recent, episode turns out to have some great father and grandfather-related stories in keeping with Father's Day. So check it out at www.americanfamilystories.org and click on the podcast tab. The series is also available on most of the podcast platforms thanks to a generous donation by our friends Maribeth and Jeff. And if you enjoy the stories, please send me a message and tell me which ones are your favorites. That's how I'll keep inspired to produce more episodes, at least one a week. And I might begin recording some new stories this summer as we travel back and forth to our family cottage in northern Wisconsin.
