From Season 1 -As a young boy, Jim Warren grew a great disliking for church. These sentiments only continued to grow as his parents forced him to attend services. At the age of 11 years old, Jim went through the motions of a profession of faith and was thereafter baptized, but really had no idea what he was doing.
Jim became appalled, and then disgusted with the lack of outreach towards people like him soon after his baptism. As a result of seeing such apathy, he determined to never have anything to do with church or the things of God ever again. His life would soon take a turn in the complete opposite direction. Less than a month later, Jim Warren began shoplifting, a practice he would continue for decades.
It only got worse as life went on. As a senior in high school, Jim publicly humiliated his parents in church by hosting a drunken brawl while they were out of town. In college, he pursued a degree in psychology, which heavily criticized Christianity.
An abusive first marriage that ended in divorce, the beginning of a major drug addiction, and his continuity of heavy drinking — these major events all had Jim living a double life as a popular high school counselor. The hypocrisy became even more evident when he was appointed the leader of the “DopeStop” program at the high school where he worked and made the sponsor of the "Youth For Christ" club at the school.
It wasn't until Jim was 70-years-old that God began entering his life through unique circumstances.
Today, Jim volunteers with the Union Rescue Mission, an outreach ministry located in Wichita, Kansas dedicated to providing homeless men with food, shelter, education, and a relationship with the Lord.

From Season 1 -Growing up in a single-parent family in a trailer park, Brent Hambrick learned to have a great work ethic, study hard, and take advantage of every opportunity which presented itself. After choosing to follow Christ at fifteen years old, Brent began to seriously seek God’s will for his life. He soon realized his calling to the medical field, and subsequently enrolled in the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.
During his collegiate tenure, Brent participated in a medical rotation in Haiti, where he initially became interested in serving the Lord abroad. Years later, feeling convicted after reading the parable of the rich man and his storehouses, Brent and his wife determined that, as soon as they were able, they would begin giving back to the Lord through service in the medical mission field.
With doors shut in their face and mainstream options dwindling, Brent and his family began preparing and saving for self-funded service in Central America. Eventually, Brent moved his entire family (which included 7 children) to Honduras and began helping a local medical student organization conduct medical outreaches that met both physical and spiritual needs.
It was during this time that Brent began to see the growing spiritual impact Christian doctors and local pastors were having on the people. Encouraged and yearning to see God work through him and fellow Believers even more, he committed to staying and serving even longer. As a result, Christian medical and evangelistic outreaches continued to grow, as well as their effect on local communities.
Brent’s tenure as a medical missionary in Central America and Cuba serves as a testament to the importance of following God’s calling, no matter where it may lead. Join us, as we listen to Brent’s infectious joy as he relates his experiences serving God by serving others.

Tom shifted the car into park and turned off the engine. It was 1am.
Crickets chirped as he carefully unwrapped his package.
It was a bomb.
A simple stick of dynamite paired with a blasting cap and timer. He had rehearsed this moment countless times.
Tom gingerly attached the blasting cap, set the timer, and then eased open the car door to listen.
All was silent in the house of the Jewish businessman he was going to bomb tonight.
Piece of filth. It’s about time the Jews learned to fear the Klan in Mississippi.
Tom was only 22, but he was more committed to the cause than anyone else he knew. Few other Klan members were willing to take the steps he was willing to.
But desperate times called for desperate measures.
If anyone was going to help America preserve segregation and common decency, then the time was now.
Martin Luther King Jr. had just been assassinated 3 months ago. America was at a tipping point. It was a pivotal time to flex the power of white Americans and spread fear into the hearts of those who opposed them.
Tom stepped out of the car into the warm night and slowly walked up the concrete driveway. All he could hear was the softly ticking bomb he cradled under his arm.
His heartbeat increased, but he could already picture the headlines in tomorrow’s paper.
“Jewish Family Killed. Klan Triumphant!”
He was halfway up the driveway, when suddenly…
Shots. Gunfire. Floodlights.
Tom je**ed. It was an ambush.
A virtual hail of bullets whizzed past his head as he instinctively wrenched his body backwards and lunged back down the driveway towards his car.
But as he did… his hand slipped…
And the package… with the carefully wrapped bomb and ticking timer…
…dropped.

From Season 1 - Growing up as the son of an attorney, David Gibbs III knew early on in life that the Lord had called him as a legal missionary to the American justice system. In 1993, he graduated from Duke University School of Law, and went on to become an attorney.
During the mid-2000s, David had the opportunity to serve as the lead attorney in the Terri Schiavo case, representing her parents to the U.S. Supreme Court as they fought to save their daughter’s life.
It was after his involvement in this case that he was especially burdened to establish an organization which would work to defend the rights of those who could not do so for themselves. As a result, he founded the National Center for Life and Liberty (NCLL) in 2012.
David Gibbs III currently serves as President of NCLL. He is also a preacher, national speaker, and Fox News contributor.

Today, I'm launching a new initiative that actually began 6 years ago!
You see, 6 years ago, after I finished our very first season of Compelled, Sarah and I had this crazy idea. What if there were more podcasts like Compelled, that shared meaningful stories in a Biblically faithful way, while also using high-quality production values?
And what if there was a podcast network of those shows?
And, so it is with great joy that today after *6 years* of contemplation, planning, and preparation, I present to you… the Proclaim Podcast Network.
Our 4 inaugural members include Compelled (duh!), Exempla, God Out Loud, and Story Partners.
I personally know the creators of each show, and I'm excited about their commitment to quality storytelling and advancing the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth.
To learn more about Proclaim, click the link in the first comment below.
More details on each show at the bottom of this post.
---
- Exempla is crafted by Nathaniel Brown. His podcast uses engaging and thoughtful stories to bring people face-to-face with Biblical truth. Some of the stories are from ancient history, some are parables with animal characters, and some stories are straight from the pages of Nathaniel’s life.
My favorite story from Exempla is Episode 17 from Season 2, called “Ode to a Small Yellow House”.
It’s about the most magical place on earth… and no, contrary to what most Americans will tell you, it does not involve Mickey Mouse. And by way, I cried in this one too (and I'm not normally a crier!).
- God Out Loud is created by my buddy Rob Vischer.
It’s a fun show, flavored with Rob’s unique sense of humor, filled with stories of people who claim they heard God.
His latest season just released this morning with the story of Tim Halfin, a regular dad from Houston, Texas who had the strangest feeling one day that God told him to walk into the woods and look for a missing boy. The story will you leave in awe of what God can do.
- Finally, Story Partners is made by Walt Manis and Annie Manis, who immerse listeners into artfully crafted stories, recounted firsthand by the people who lived them.
One of my favorite episodes is Episode 8 from Season 1, called “Thank You, Wendy”, and left me in tears.
It’s about Bob and Suzanne, whose hearts toward God were hard. Suzanne was apathetic and Bob was openly hostile. They had grown up around faith, but as adults wanted nothing to do with Jesus. But then a tragic event ushered them into a whole new way of seeing God. It's a great story!

Our Purpose
We tell stories of God’s people carrying out His mission in our world.
Our guests come from a wide variety of backgrounds: a former abortion clinic owner, a death row evangelist, a NFL Super Bowl Champion, a pastor, a camp director, a storyteller, and so many more…
The common thread uniting all of them? They live for the One who died for them.
“For the love of Christ compels us, since we have reached this conclusion: If one died for all, then all died. And he died for all so that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for the one who died for them and was raised.” – 2 Corinthians 5:14-15
