Hi, Leapers. Dennis here again.
The other day, I posted my account of me and Sam's falling out and my deciding to leave the podcast this summer. Later that day, I learned Sam was not able to see the post, likely because I had blocked their personal profile. It was not my intention to post something Sam was unable to see or respond to. I had thought that since the post was made on a public business page, they would be able to see and interact with it. While I wasn't trying elicit a public response from Sam, I also wasn't trying to create a situation where they couldn't give one if they wanted. Once I realized that, I took the post down.
I've since unblocked Sam and re-sent an invitation for them to take full control of this page, which they have accepted. This will be my last post. Any future post you see will be from Sam.
I do appreciate the comments made on the previous post, and apologies to those I didn't have a chance to respond to before taking it down. In response to those who expressed hope Sam and I could mend things one day, I will say I would genuinely like for that to happen.
To add perspective to what I said the other day and perhaps be more kind: In talking with someone close to Sam these last couple of days, I've reflected and come to realize that multiple things can be true at once: I do think Sam wanted Fate's Wide Wheel to be their own platform, though they couldn't admit that, maybe not even to themselves, and that informed much of their behavior last season. We obviously had diverged on what we wanted the podcast to be creatively. But I can see Sam also felt hurt and betrayed when I finally chose to leave, and anything they've expressed to that sentiment is genuine and their truth. I can hold space for that, but admittedly only to a certain extent, for obvious reasons.
Whatever happens between me and Sam, I know my time with FWW has come and gone. Even if we both wanted otherwise, I do think a certain rubicon has been crossed.
But I do hope me and Sam can find some common ground again someday. Falling short of a friendship, I hope we can at least be polite enough with each other so we can be in the same room and chat when our mutual friends gather in Chicago every now and then.
In the meantime, thanks again for reading and hope to see you around in the fandom. This will be posted with comments turned off, as I'm not sure a group discussion would be helpful. But like I said, Sam is an admin on the page again and they can do whatever they feel best here. Any public comment or private message is welcome.
