It’s officially spooky season, which means it’s the perfect time to dive into one of the wildest celebrity conspiracy theories out there: the idea that pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne died and was replaced by a look-alike named Melissa Vandella.

Crazy, right?

This bizarre theory first surfaced in 2005 and picked up serious momentum in 2011, thanks to fans piecing together supposed clues from Avril’s music and public appearances. The theory claims that after Lavigne’s sudden rise to fame in the early 2000s, she tragically passed away and was secretly replaced by Melissa, who was allegedly trained to mimic her perfectly.

It was a great discussion that touched on topics of the band’s reunion, the reasons why they seem bigger than they’ve ever been, their upcoming tour, and whether or not the band has plans to make a new album. Ryan also shares how he tries to balance life fronting one of the scene’s most iconic bands as a new dad. The boys kick things off with a fun discussion after Tyler shares the story of John and his old band’s meeting with Drive-Thru Records and walking on the label head’s back. Took a different approach for this episode as we are trying out interviewing fans of the music scene we cater to in order for us to get to know them a bit more as fans of music and dive into what they do for a living.

This week, we talk to one of you, Dr. Tom, a podiatrist (foot doctor) and a fan of the scene. Dr. Tom is a supporter of the show and (full disclosure) a long-time friend of both Tyler and John, as well as Tyler’s personal foot doctor. Before moving into music-related topics, the boys interview the doctor about his work by asking him all kinds of questions, from sawing off feet to the worst feet he’s seen to his craziest experiences while practicing podiatry. Tommy also shares his favorite bands, best concerts, a wild concert story, the most he’s paid for a single concert ticket, and what albums and tours he’s looking forward to most in 2024. To wrap it up, Dr. Tom turns the tables and asks the hosts about the most embarrassing concert they’ve attended.

In this episode, Tyler and John discuss how artists are gaming the Billboard charts in the lamest way possible to boost rankings. They express frustration with these strategies and question the credibility of chart achievements, particularly regarding the dominance of certain artists like Sum 41, blink-182, Drake, and Taylor Swift. This conversation leads to a discussion about today’s potential influence of payola and streaming manipulation. The boys then shift their focus to Spotify rolling out music videos to its platform and whether or not it should be seen as a threat to YouTube.
