For some reason, I was expecting the animated series "Scott Pilgrim Takes Off" on Netflix to be a simple animated re-telling of the film or, better yet, the books. And that would have been fine, I guess. However, that is very much NOT what this series is. It's soooo much better! I'm not going to give an in-depth review as I don't want to spoil anything, the surprises are part of what make it all so fun. Suffice to say, this series goes to a lot of different places narratively and satisfies in ways the movie never could. Fans of the books and the movie will still find LOTS of familiar ground in this animated series, but wrapped in a fresh new package. Also, I think the music might be better in this series.
