The term Ivory can refer to many different tusks, as the official definition applies to any tusk that is large enough to be carved or scrimshawed. However, Elephant tusks are generally the referred to ivory due to their high value.
Since male African elephant tusks average at around 100 pounds, they are quite valuable. There was even a time when their tusks averaged at over 200 pounds, though unfortunately the ivory trade itself has mostly wiped out that gene.

Why do rhinos have such bad credit?
They're constantly charging!

In all seriousness, poaching is devastating. I hope that most people do know it’s illegal, but it’s more than that. It’s so very cruel, to the animals AND the people.
There are plenty of horror stories out there of the destruction poaching leaves behind…
However, while it would be easy to do so, we can’t start hating all poachers, any poachers.
The illegal poaching trade value is estimated to be over billions of dollars, and while there are certainly people who capitalize on it out of greed… There are people who are surviving on a wage that is twenty miles below subsistence level.
To them, the poaching industry is a life changing option, and often seems like the only option.
We need to blame the industry, not the people it manipulates.

Joke Fact Check: Wild monkeys generally don’t eat bananas, as wild bananas are almost inedible due to a very high amount of seeds. If domestic monkeys do eat any cultivated bananas, it’s a very special treat because the bananas we know are too sweet to be eaten on the daily (rather like eating halloween hauls every day). So in conclusion, the joke is correct with humans exporting loads of bananas a year!

For those that are still here:
Why’s a banana peel on the floor like music?
If you don’t C sharp, you’ll B flat!

Joke Fact Check: A bale of hay is a rolled up bundle of plant life that is cut and dried for the use of animal food. It can be a mixture of plants collected from a meadow or field, although that kind is not the most nutritious type of hay out there. However, it can make up a good dietary portion for “resting cows,” cows that aren’t currently producing milk.
Conversely, cows that are producing milk require more nutrient rich diets, so their feed can benefit from a change to higher protein hays such as alfalfa or clover.
Finally, some hay bales are packaged in square or rectangular figures (such as for horses or smaller herbivore pets), so we wish to put out a PSA: Shapes do not contribute to the nutritional content. :)
