November 13th (1867) An outbreak of typhoid was confirmed at the ‘Old Dairy’ in Terling. It became known in this part of Essex as ‘The Terling Fever’. Records suggest that the epidemic claimed the lives of more than 270 people; 220 of them being under 50 years old.
