🖤 Black Wellness Matters 🖤

According to recent studies, Black Americans are still more likely to experience higher rates of chronic illness like diabetes, heart disease, and various mental health conditions compared to their white counterparts.

Why is this the case?

It’s a multiprong issue that originates in systemic challenges, such as limited access to high-quality healthcare, medical discrimination, and the influence of socioeconomic factors. Additionally, these discrepancies are intertwined with the trauma that Black Americans endure merely by being Black in America. Furthermore, the existing gaps stem from a historical mistrust in the medical system, a consequence of centuries marked by the abuse and mistreatment of the Black body. The cumulative impact of this kind of persistent stress and trauma can manifest in a spectrum of health afflictions.

In the spirit of collective community care, is teaming up with fellow Global Trainers and to curate:

Last Friday, we kicked off The GOSPEL Live! Screening and Q&A Talkback Tour - the first of many stops! Our hearts were moved as the dialogue in the sanctuary soared beyond expectation. Inspired by PBS GOSPEL Live! and GOSPEL, the conversation quickly evolved from the intersection of spirituality and secular music to conscious consumerism, decoding the metrics behind viewership and ratings, and more.

As both the panelists and many in the congregation emphasized, fostering conscious programming within the African Diaspora requires intentional engagement, ensuring broadcasters recognize the actual value of their content.

Music Director, (Zo Harris) & Executive Producer, highlighted the night sharing advice on how to match passion and purpose - identifying GOSPEL Live! as the point where those two elements meet.

We’ll be sharing more but this photo captured the rousing, yet loving energy in the room. It was certainly a family affair with our new tribe at .

📺 GOSPEL Live! airs February 9th. The two-part docuseries GOSPEL airs February 12th & 13th - all on PBS!
