Have you ever sat and wondered if you are making things more complicated than they need to be in the deer woods?

Tons of gadgets, scents, camo patterns, new tactics ... I have had my fair share of decision paralysis before, during, and after hunts. I think it's really easy to make things more complicated than they need to be when in reality the deer tell you where they want to be and it's our job not to argue.

This week's guest is a living example of the kind of fella who keeps things simply. He used a climber, moved to a saddle, but now hunts on the ground as often as possible.

Jacob found that the best spots were best hunted from the ground and now spends a lot of time there waiting on Mr. Big.

It is extremely hard to find a guy nicer than Chris Leppert. Consider he kills absolute stud whitetails, created The Mobile Hunter Podcast to educate the hunting community, has started the worlds greatest expo for the mobile hunter and you quickly realize how lucky we are to have a fella like him in the hunting community.

Chris talks about how mentorship and being mentally flexible led to amazing success in the deer woods. Chris is a student of the game and we cant wait to see what he drags out this year.

The "KILL SWITCH" series continues this week with Jake Booth.

Since the 2018 season, Jake has started utilizing a system of non-cellular cameras purely on rut funnels (with or without sign) to locate potential rut circuits that he believes mature bucks will run on an annual basis as they begin searching for does to cycle into estrous. While this may sound simple, the complexity lies in the ability to find and target a mature buck that might only be passing through the area one or two times a season on his rut circuit.

Many successful whitetail hunters have a moment where the switch flipped, and all of a sudden they started taking mature deer on a regular basis. We’re calling that the “Kill Switch”, and it’ll be a continued topic of conversation!

25 minutes in Tennessee!!
I was supposed to make a swing up to Oklahoma after we finished up in West Texas, but a last minute change of plans had me driving through the night to get to Tennessee.
I pulled into a familiar gate at 10:45am this morning with a belly full of coffee, fresh tags, and a lot of false confidence due to chasing Rios for a week.
I walked down a secluded little trail that led to 3 big fields, and decided to make my first call from the spot where the road split between the fields. I’ll be danged if he didn’t fire back on the first turnover of the first yelp! One quick move into the hardwoods and a few soft clucks later, and he was dead 25 minutes from the time I got out of the truck!
