Wendy Clark, better known by her stage name Lady B, is an American rapper and radio DJ from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is one of the earliest female rappers in hip hop, and one of the first to record a single. She began her career with radio station WHAT in 1979, and recorded her first single later that year, "To the Beat Y'all". The song, the title of which became a stock rap phrase, was first released by TEC, a local Philadelphia-based record label, and released again in 1980 by Sugar Hill Records. She is recognized as one of the first DJs to play rap records on the radio outside New York, playing artists such as Will Smith and Soulsonic Force at the start of their careers.

To engage with me in a hip hop debate you must know who this man is and the significance of this place, if not you already lost. On August 11, 1973, DJ Kool Herc was the DJ at his sister's back-to-school party, at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue. He extended the beat of a record by using two record players, isolating the percussion "breaks" by using a mixer to switch between the two records. Herc's experiments with making music with record players became what we now know as breaking or "scratching." Also dubbed his dancers "break-boys" and "break-girls", or simply b-boys and b-girls. According to Herc, "breaking" was also street slang for "getting excited" and "acting energetically." # legendary

Robert Keith Wiggins aka Cowboy was the first rapper selected by Grandmaster Flash to be a part of the group, Furious Five, in 1978. Cowboy is credited with creating the "call and response" technique, as well as coining the term "hip hop", which he created when teasing a friend joining the army about marching.
