Rhythm is Rhythm Radio show hosted & featuring Nicola Torriero alongside a great selection of Canadian & international guest DJ's ( house, deep house, tech house & techno )

RHYTHM IS RHYTHM was the original name of my production company from when I first began to produce events many years ago. The name was inspired by one of my favourite tracks released in 1987, called The Dance by Rhythim is Rhythim. During my recent research I actually discovered that Rhythim is Rhythim was Derrick May’s artist name during that time. For me the name is self explanatory, it encourag

es us to focus on the music and rhythms that move us, rather then place them in genres or categories. This is why I have decided to resurrect it as the signature name of my new project, one that will encompass many styles of music I used to enjoy, woven in with the more present sounds of house, deep house, tech house and of course techno, which I have been more known for in recent years in clubs and on web radio. Rhythm is Rhythm is the name of a new radio show that I will be hosting alongside
a great selection of my chosen guests, every Saturday night from 10pm to 1am. The show will stream online and air on fm radio. This new show will incorporate a creative balance of local talented DJ’s, some of whom I have also played alongside in many of Montreal’s established club venues, as well as several international guest DJ’s that have inspired me over the years.

What started off as her trying to get me off the couch when I broke my leg and had surgery, thinking I would never walk again, she went into my dj room asking how do we turn the gear on?
I rushed there with my crutches, here ruse worked.
But low and behold, with the basics I thought her 3 years ago her hidden talent blossomed into nothing less than outstanding!!!!!
I couldn’t be more proud of her! Her attention to detail, dedication to achieving flawless mixing, her programming skills & storytelling doesn’t stop to impress me as she keeps striving for perfection and keeps bringing her talent to the next level.

Meet Montreal's Legendary Nicola Torriero:

Nicola Torriero a Montreal based DJ for over 30 years, best known as the founder of the Bal En Blanc event which he conceived in 1994. He subsequently went on to produce original material for the infamous Black & Blue main event, and also for DiverCité Grande Danse. He has productions released on labels such as Stereo Productions, Lapsus Music and Magna Recordings. He has been a regular at Montreal’s iconic nightclub Stereo since it opened as well as many other residencies and regular appearances such as Playground, Aria, Sona, RedLite, Cherry, Di Salvios, Royal, Love Sundays, Salon Daomé and most recently at a new Montreal venue, The Sanctuary.
He plays a particular driving style which is present in all the genres he plays. Through his journey in music he has explored the full spectrum from the origins of House Music through Tribal, progressive and techno.
which sets the tone of his chugging tempo that is his signature sound. In 2015 Nicola launched his own radio show named Rhythm is Rhythm which he created as a platform to showcase great talent within the Electronic Music Scene locally and beyond. Since 2020 he has embraced a style that incorporates the darker side of progressive with a hint of tribal and techno. He still loves to play vinyl in his infamous black room enjoying the warm analogue sounds.

Extremely saddened at the loss of a man who was such an incredible talent, who made a huge impact and remained a massive influence on the scene for so many here in Montreal and around the world. What an immense loss. Our thoughts go out to all his family and friends who must be devastated.
