February 2025 Selection - Progressive Trance 🎶🎧

This is a good one! 😉

When it's this hard to pick the ⭐ Gold Star track, I know there's some quality music about.

It almost went to a breakbeat bootleg remix of old school classic 'Hale Bopp', which will surprise you around the 30 minute mark. In the end I went with an out-and-out trance track. No prefixes (progressive/hard/upifting etc), just solid 136bpm trance. With a cheesy breakdown!

Also I just discovered the Slam Duck remix of 'Escitalotrance' on Forescape, which I somehow missed a couple of years ago, so it gets a play here as the 💎 Defrosted track.

'Renaissance' Remixes - Progressive Trance🎧🎵

Time for some more Renaissance 😀

I thought i'd try a variation on the theme. This is a set created from some of the many remixes of those tracks over the years. The originals are mainly from 'Mix Collection Pt 1', but a handful are from later compilations.

Obviously the original tracks are still the best (with 1 or 2 exceptions 😉)! I see these remixes as reflections on those ideas, not replacements.

Also, hats off to Framewerk who have 5 entries in this mix 😮

Classics Remixed: 2024 - Trance🔊🎉

The year wouldn't be complete without my annual collection of favorite remixes 🤩

I stumble across loads of these every week, and inevitably there's a lot of trash (you wouldn't believe....). But these are some of the ones I think are worth it 😀

Probably the most orginal is the Spinnaka rework of Faithless 'Insomnia'. I said at the time that I didn't think this song could be remixed anymore, but what a pleasant surprise - this bootleg presents it in a way i've not heard before 👍

Other tracks don't try to mess with the formula much, but freshen them up with contemporary approaches and production values.

Shout out to Simon Doty and Exotek who have managed to get tracks in both End Of Year mixes. Busy people indeed!

My 'new releases' playlist is rapidly filling-up, so it won't be too long before i'm back with a January 2025 selection 😲

End Of Year: 2024 - Progressive Trance🔊🎉

Here's 90 minutes of personal favorites from 2024, for your listening pleasure! 😉

It can be a frustrating balancing act with these episodes. Choosing say 20 best tracks and forcing them together doesn't work. You have to select from a larger pool, and create a viable mix as you go along.

Saying that, somewhat inevitably, certain artists and labels push themselves to the front because they've been all over 2024. Exotek must be the 'breakthrough' artist of the year, with releases on JOOF and Forescape (probably my 'go to' record labels) 😀

'Renaissance' Mix Classics - Progressive Trance🎧🎵

30 years ago this month, 'Renaissance: The Mix Collection' was released 😲 Arguably the first and best CD mix compilation (and the first one I ever bought). It was put together by Sasha and John Digweed to give people a taster of the music being played at the Renaissance club nights in the UK.

It raised the profile of the club and spawned a whole series of CDs and offshoots, and a record label. It also brought the Renaissance sound to the attention of many new listeners, like myself.

This mix comprises a trancey selection of songs from across those CDs (Mix Collection 1,2 & 4, Worldwide: London, and Awakening, to be specific! 🧐).

October 2024 Selection - Progressive Trance 🎶🎧

October's selection of new music is here, and well worth the wait 😅

I have to give a shout to Canada-based producer Exotek, who gets the ⭐ Gold Star for 'Arrival'. Not only are two tracks from that EP in this mix, but there's a bootleg of Olmec Heads 'Spiritualised' doing the rounds as well.
