Psychedelic Saturday is a music show which will showcase the stylings of psychedelic music and culture. Psychedelic music grew from the counter culture of the 60’s and 70’s. This fulcrum point enabled artists to freely express their thoughts, beliefs, and experiences without limitations. Through modern tools and expansion of consciousness they were able to produce sounds previously unimaginable. T
his form of expression gained popularity while our country was at a turning point, and when artistic expression began to break on through to the other side. Some may say this genre is confined to that era in our history. We say the ideals are timeless. Though we will pay homage to the artists that first developed the sound, our main focus will be on newer artist who are currently creating content. The modern age has produced a revival of the classic hippie dippie sounds, with a new age twist to them. A culture that was bred in festivals like Woodstock and Monterey Pop is now being reincarnated in festivals like Austin Psych Fest, Cinco de Psycho, and Levitation France. There are always going to be artists who create beyond the norm. Psychedelic Saturday is here to honor those weirdos.
