That thing when you’re cat sitting so you end up taking pictures of the cat you’re hanging out with and then you remember it’s been a hearty handful of months since you last posted on this Instagram account. And then you also remember about things like Caturday and existing 🙃

TBF, I have been posting for the .ca garden group every now and again, so it hasn’t been a totally clean social media break since I put both the music blahg’n and the mountown’n on an indefinite pause earlier this year (in order to focus more time on work that comes with someone that I can bill my hours to) — BUT — I will say that it has been pretty nice to not be paying much mind to the ol’ socials these last few months. Especially after years of attempting to run a couple of blogs (and the ‘attempting to run a couple of social media accounts’ that comes with all that).

But… Maple wanted to say “hey,” so here we are eh — cheers and I hope the URLs and IRLs have been treating you well 🤙

When life hands you lemons (in this case: West Jet cancelled our last connecting flight to Cranbrook after landing in Calgary after travelling all day from Denmark on Jan 30th… only to then also cancel our make up flight the next day and stranding us in Calgary for at least 48+ hours, assuming they don’t cancel our next Cranbrook flight on Feb 1st for more “unscheduled maintenance”), make lemonade (in this case: taking advantage of the empty hot tub and pool facilities of the industrial area airport hotel West Jet is paying for us to stay at while we wait for our 50 minute flight home to finally happen).

I recently updated how the MONTHLY & QUARTERLY 'Mutually Beneficial Employment' supporters of the work that goes into running The 95EH Events Calendar are displayed over on moun.town/events — SO — I figured I'd take this weekend of (american) gratitude to give thanks to the hearty handful of local businesses/organizations that graciously agreed to take a chance on the soft-launch of this non-traditional approach to supporting the work that goes into running a local 'bizness' idea like 95EH.CA and MOUN.TOWN during this last half of 2023.

So, THANK YOU Kimberley Public Library 🙌 and THANK YOU Kimberley & District Chamber of Commerce 🙌 and THANK YOU Mountain Grass Gallery & Bistro 🙌 and THANK YOU The Hourglass Kimberley 🙌 and THANK YOU Huckleberry Books Cranbrook 🙌

As someone who has foolishly gone done the path of 'just do the work and maybe the support will follow' (aka: diy blogging), it has really meant a lot to see some tangible support for this project come about in its 7th year of attempting to keep existing (although also shoutout to those businesses that signed up for profile pages back in the earlier days… before that pandemic cancelled events for a couple years, as that meant A LOT too 🙌).

And on the topic of 95EH continuing to exist, I'll soon be going into 'mostly out of office' mode for the months of December and January, but I do plan on attempting to fire-up this "Mutually Beneficial Employment" idea again in February 2024 — SO — if any other local businesses/organizations/humans would be interested in joining the 'MBE' team, please feel strongly encouraged to send a "hey!" to '[email protected]' (or DM me) to start up a conversation OR you can also read more about this concept over at:
