🗣 PSA: Today (Saturday, October 19th) is the last day to vote in the BC provincial election (ie. that thing that comes around about once every 4 years where local area adults get to have a 1 vote say in choosing which people/parties we want to represent the area of land that a bunch of us currently live on together)!

Maple just wanted me to remind everyone that EVERY Wednesday(ish) the Mix Tape Radio players over on MOUN.TOWN/RADIO get updated with a new-to-somebody mix at the start of both the SIDE A and SIDE B all-day rotations — AND — all you need to listen is an internet connection and a curious clicking finger.

Which means, if you also know how to harness the power of Bluetooth technology, you too could now be listening to a digital mixtape featuring artists from Alberta (that was first put together about 3 years ago) while the dishes get themselves ready to be washed in the sink.

People often forget that one of the best reasons for growing leeks in your garden—besides the obvious 'eating/cooking' reasons—is that once they reach a nice, hearty size… you can start playing the classic "massive leek" joke on anyone who you think might be concerned about there being a massive leak somewhere ( ) 👍

We first saw this cheeky bit on the British reality series 'Four In A Bed' (back when we used to have a bed in the UK, but, FYI, you can actually now watch this series for FREE online @ Tubi tv) — AND — I can confirm from personal experience that this joke works great in-person and/or over text (probably not so good over telephone, but I imagine it could be made to work for Facetime too).

Anyways… I just thought I'd put the reminder out there, PSA-like, as sometimes half the battle of gardening is thinking of all the different ways you can use all the different produce coming up at one exact stretch of time (which feels especially true this year with us gardening/composting up at kegg.ca again + over at 's yard).

Partly due to starting up (ie. there's a Kimberley, BC By-Election happening this month, with advanced voting starting today — AND — there's also a BC Provincial Election happening in October), combined with the fact that I happened to have some -based online "outlets" mostly collecting dust (online outlets like Hi54 + 95EH who sometimes reach tens of people with every blahg & social share), I figured these next couple months might be a decent time for me to un-push the indefinite pause buttons that I pushed on all my self-inflicted blogging back in whatever month/year — AND THEN — try testing the waters to see if there's any version of my old 'HI54.BLOG / MOUN.TOWN + 95EH.CA' equation that makes sustainable sense to keep trying to do (given all the known realities).

AND… one of the things I'll be playing around with is updating the MOUN.TOWN/RADIO Mix Tape Radio players (BOTH SIDES) with a different starting digital mixtape/cd EVERY Wednesday-ish (ie. sometime around the middle of the week). And, as with the very blog post that accompanies this week's featured MTR episode — "19 FROM 88 | THE HI54 YEARBOOK MIXES" — in an effort to repurpose prior blog content for re-use purposes ( ), I'll often do some alterations & edits to the original blog posts to make them even more 'worth a visit/click' than last time!

So… have a flick thru the pics to get the gist —OR— just come on over to MOUN.TOWN / HI54.BLOG (which you can even find your way over to via highway 95EH.CA) and then go dig a little bit deeper than what the social media gardens allow for 👍

That thing when you’re cat sitting so you end up taking pictures of the cat you’re hanging out with and then you remember it’s been a hearty handful of months since you last posted on this Instagram account. And then you also remember about things like Caturday and existing 🙃

TBF, I have been posting for the .ca garden group every now and again, so it hasn’t been a totally clean social media break since I put both the music blahg’n and the mountown’n on an indefinite pause earlier this year (in order to focus more time on work that comes with someone that I can bill my hours to) — BUT — I will say that it has been pretty nice to not be paying much mind to the ol’ socials these last few months. Especially after years of attempting to run a couple of blogs (and the ‘attempting to run a couple of social media accounts’ that comes with all that).

But… Maple wanted to say “hey,” so here we are eh — cheers and I hope the URLs and IRLs have been treating you well 🤙

When life hands you lemons (in this case: West Jet cancelled our last connecting flight to Cranbrook after landing in Calgary after travelling all day from Denmark on Jan 30th… only to then also cancel our make up flight the next day and stranding us in Calgary for at least 48+ hours, assuming they don’t cancel our next Cranbrook flight on Feb 1st for more “unscheduled maintenance”), make lemonade (in this case: taking advantage of the empty hot tub and pool facilities of the industrial area airport hotel West Jet is paying for us to stay at while we wait for our 50 minute flight home to finally happen).
