All good things come to an end...

The organic reach of reels though, doesn't appear to be ending any time soon.

So if you haven't already incorporated or converted some of your post content to , this Reels Check may help you get started.

VIDEO - you want to make sure you have the correct size and apect ration.

TEXT - be careful that your text is readable! I see a LOT of full paragraphs that are only visible for a sec. Sometimes I watch again, most times I skip.

SETTINGS - if you don't have these set as defaults, take a look in your settings menu. Reels can be repurposed, so it's great to automatically have a copy for later!

Believe me it's a struggle for me as well.

But the more we treat "content" like it's some distant play cousin that only comes around when it wants something, the less likely we'll want to go there.

⚠️ I'm not sure which variant we're currently on, but I thought I'd share this in case your gig calendar is still in tact...

"Do less better" (you'll hear us say this a lot at )

When i fronted and managed my band , we had a system in place that helped us grow our fanbase and end up (pre-pandemic) performing 120+ shows/yr.

🛠 This "system" was something we stumbled upon that worked really well to grow our audience via live shows.

Starting off as a band... trying to make a name for yourself... let alone trying to make money was overwhelming sometimes.

It can be extremely difficult not to compare yourself to other musicians and bands when they were literally playing shows on the stages you wanted to be on.

📲 Soooo... we focused on using social media and our EPK to get us gigs (i.e. learned how to become a booking agent), then we'd treat each show as a chance to reach more fans.

We basically wanted to get our band name, logo, contact info and most importantly -- UPCOMING DATES into people's hands as much as possible.

3 things we did to grow our fanbase to 10K?

1. Get our name into fan's hands

2. Get our name onto their timeline

3. Get our name into their inbox

Once we realized this was the combo that was working for us, we rinsed and repeated at pretty much every show.

I'm so glad there are people out there who have already walked the path I'm on.

I hired friend, mentor, and music marketer Bob Baker to specifically talk about publishing books.

In addition to those titles above, Bob is also a 15x author with amazing musician, entrepreneur, and author resources available.

It was the first time I had paid money specifically for the book itself, as I am by nature a straight-up "DIY" kinda guy. But here's the thing, "do it yourself" doesn't have to mean "do it BY yourself".
