First, there will be a driver's meeting at 5pm by back concession to discuss these changes and answer any questions. Once everyone is familiar and we create a routine out of this it will actually work quite well. Hank Po***ck is in charge of the logistics and if you have additional thoughts or suggestions, he's your man. Hank will be positioned in the pits Sunday to get everyone to follow it, work through the bugs etc. I'll warn you in advance - he's pretty serious about this so it's not something I would argue about much. Fortunately, Hank's plan exactly matches what our insurance company asked us to change - so this is the way it's going to be, subject to a few modifications as we work through it.
Highlights:
1. Red area is staging which will have cones etc but moves quite a bit back toward the water truck area - well behind the new guardrail. Stay to the right of that pit road to the extent you can to allow other traffic/wreckers to move along the inside.
2. Yellow is the new work area during features when needed. We will discuss how your car gets there and some scenarios at the driver's meeting.
3. Green is the area at bottom of hill where you will park your mules, 4 wheelers etc to do any repairs in work area.
4. Blue is where people in the pits who are parked behind turns 3-4 or have stuff for the work area will watch the races. We do plan to have a container back there within the next few weeks to stand on in addition to the bleachers and standing area.
5. Nobody can stand from the red line at the start of staging through the pit crossover gate on the patio. We will have someone there making sure that if you are in that area you are just walking along the sides and also aren't doing so while cars are racing. You can still use that gate, but you must be moving and not standing.
6. Orange lines are new concrete barriers on each end to more fully enclose the infield while still creating a few lanes for cars and equipment to get off/on.
7. Finally, unless you are working (scorers, flagman, Hank's infield crew, tow truck, Ambulance or Fire, or a series official - you will not be allowed in the infield. And yes, that means pretty much anyone. I'm not sure if Hank is even going to allow me down there but I know he would chase off my wife and kids! We are that serious. I know you are one of our best buddies and great supporters - whoever you are - but this means you as well. Don't put our guys in the position of having to ask you to leave. We should all understand why by now!
Thank you for your support, patience and understanding as we work through these changes in the real world. They won't be perfect at first, but we'll get them to work out in time.
