Volunteers needed to look after the Mummy Dogs and help them have their litters

“Being a puppy midwife was the most amazing experience – I couldn’t imagine life without her now.” 💛

Rob, shares how welcoming guide dog mum Fiji into his home – and caring for her first litter of eight pups – has been both joyful and life-changing.🐾

He explains: “It was incredible seeing the scan and knowing there were puppies on the way… I can’t wait to think if all eight are successful, there’s going to be eight more people supported. My role is so early on, but it has a lasting impact.”

Happiness is a muddy walk and then a swim to get clean.

Yesterday I had a visit from Guide Dogs to see how I am working with Dad.
Obviously I did very well.
However as I am now 10 years and 3 months they are thinking about my retirement. Next visit in 3 months.

What will I find to do?

Free runs in Sutton Park won’t change. I will still get to swim and walk through the mud. However I won’t be able to visit some places that I love, like museums etc. I will have a label on my lead saying ‘Retired Guide Dog’, so some places might let me in. I can do the ‘puppy eyes’ expression and win them over.

Anyway that’s not yet, so need to visit more exciting places while I can.

A great day working with Dad at The Belfry for a golf tournament, supporting Guide Dogs UK.
A hole in one was scored, resulting in an extra £50 000 donation to Guide Dogs.
Amazing
A Guide Dog costs £102 000 for its working life, including birth costs, training, food and vets costs.

Summer 2025
A few days away with the family. Lots of visits and new experiences.
Even though I am already 10 years old, I am still working great to give Dad his independence.
Sometimes Dad does like the help of taking sister’s shoulder to walk, or help from mom.

Early visits to the park these days.
Lovely walk, sniffing and greeting other doggies and perhaps 1 or 2 cooling swims or walk through any muddy areas.
Timed so that cafe is open by end of walk for Mom and Sis.
The cafe (and Mom) provide water, but I usually drink while in the pool.

Breakfast is always delayed to enable a good run without the health risks of exercising after eating

Fake flea treatments

The Government is issuing an urgent warning to pet owners following the discovery of toxic chemicals in fake flea treatments that have left pets fighting for their lives.

Pet owners are being urged to check packaging and be wary of third-party sellers as dangerous fake treatments with toxic substances have been discovered on e-commerce sites. Insecticide discovered in counterfeit flea treatments trigger vomiting, seizures and potential death. Testing by experts and Trading Standards investigation has confirmed products are counterfeit and extremely dangerous. They have found 211 batches, including fake Frontline Flea and Tick Treatment and Pro Plan FortiFlora Probiotic Sachets for dogs and cats, have been sold and in circulation.
Warning signs for you to look for include poor packaging, spelling mistakes, unusual smells and suspiciously low prices.
New figures show three quarters of consumers wrongly believe fake goods are of similar quality to genuine products. Pet owners should only buy from trusted sources and immediately report suspicious products.
