With our show off the air, Kailey Jane Hawkins has found time to record one of her own songs - in her own unique way. This has been one of my favorites since I heard it on Canada Day. Thanks Kailey - it truly is a Happy Little Song

We're thrilled that the new album from Ringo Starr is out today. Look Up is produced by T Bone, who also wrote or co-wrote 9 of the album's 11 songs. It's Ringo's first country album in more than 50 years and his first full-length album since 2019. https://strm.to/LookUp

For the last 4 years, I've been lucky enough to host an hour of local radio every month. This Sunday at 4 (unless there's an Attack game, in which case it'll air afterwards) on AM 560 CFOS, my last episode of Georgian Bay Roots will go out over the airwaves.
Tune in every Sunday this month as Kelly Babcock, Kailey Jane Hawkins , Lloyd Allan Lemon and I take a turn at the controls steering this ship into the sunset. It has fallen on us to be the ones to bid the adieus and, out of deference to everyone who's worked on GBR (Jon Farmer, Tim Harrison, Lauren Jewell, Dylan McMullin and more), we're making the most of the occasion.
For my part, I'm leaning heavily into "the music made and played by your neighbours right here in GreyBruce". Tune in on Sunday to hear, in order of appearance: Sons of Ishmael, Louis Rankin, Chegahno, Hallucination feat. Chippewa Travellers & Reverse, Beverly Glenn Copeland (Song for Elizabeth Glenn-Copeland), BA Johnston, Rich Laviolette, The Sadies, JD Crosstown, Eugene Smith, String Driven Thing, Bill Monahan, Kuips and Andy Elliott and David Chevalier's Lakewater!

Glenn's career retrospective album 'Transmissions: The Music of Beverly Glenn-Copeland' is out now via Transgressive Records. Buy/stream here: https://ffm.to...

This weeks episode of Georgian Bay Roots is hosted by Lloyd Lemon and airs on 560 CFOS on Sunday December 1, 2024 at 4:00 (Unless there’s a hocky game). For those of you not living in the Owen Sound area, or who no longer use old school radios - you can listen to the show live via www.560cfos dot ca

This episode, #424, is sponsored by The Georgian Bay Folk Society.

In this episode Lloyd presents the interview recorded with Terra Lightfoot at the Sharing Circle during Summerfolk 49 on Saturday morning, August 17, 2024. The interview is accompanied by music discussed by Terra (I finally get a chance to play some David Wilcox (one of Terra’s early influences)).

Terra talks about some of her musical roots, her latest CD - Healing Power, her relationships with mentors like Colin Linden and Daniel Lanois, playing on tour with Blue Rodeo, Bruce Cockburn, Blackie & The Rodeo Kings and some of the artists she has co-written with -including Matt Anderson, Colin Linden, Colin James, and Tyler Chester.

Terra also graced us with two acoustic performances of new songs: A Good Sign and and Could’ve Stayed Lost that she has already recorded and are planned to be released in February. We had some technical challenges with the field recording, but you can hear Terra’s talent, passion and spirit shine through (even if it does not duplicate the amazing experience of sitting beside her while she sang and played). The quality is just good enough to whet the appetite for her new release.

For those of you, who can't listen via CFOS on Sunday, here is the link to the podcast on Soundcloud.

Here it is folks, Kelly's last show. Well, except for the next one he does which will be his real "last" show, but that's a Christmas/Holiday show and he'll be making sure that's festive and bright. So this is his last show but he did it before the December show so he could sort of make sure he got a last show in before doing the other one. You know Kelly, right? Never do things the easy way. Anyway, give a listen, some of his favourites are in here, not all of them obviously because that would take hours, days, even weeks to get through. The guy just loves him so many musicians and songs.

Kelly's Last show ... before the last show Kelly does in December, but that's a Christmas Show so this is Kelly's real last show, it's just not ... you know .... last.
