The Daily Sports Adviser-Randy Lutz-started down this sports writing road just about a decade ago, at first writing for smaller sites and blogs, and then writing analysis when Bleacher Report was just a toddler, writing pieces on local sports teams. I spent about a year writing there, put out over 100 articles and built up a small following that eventually turned into a real life job covering the
Boston Celtics and Providence Friars Men's Basketball team. Very quickly, that turned into running an entire sports section for the company, finding, managing, and editing for a staff of about a dozen sports writers, putting out at least 60 new articles per week, nearly all of which I had my fingerprints on in some way, shape, or form. I covered games in person-often along with another writer, who would write the game coverage itself-and met some of the greats both on the court and in the media sports coverage business along the way. With the NBA AND NFL lockouts going on, our small site was struggling to stay busy, to stay in business, and to stay open. Then our owner got married, and his wife decided that the blogsite wasn't worth his time, and that it was time to get a "real job". He left, and I moved south to Florida, where I spent a year covering local baseball prospects, summer leagues, and high school prospects/games for a local paper. After moving back up north, I went back to covering the Friars initially, but then took on a project outside of sports writing that demanded a great deal of my time, and forced me to put sports writing and analysis aside. But I've finished that contract, moved on to new clients, and I'm back, and hoping to come back stronger than ever. I've added some people to my team, adding new folks and even bringing back some old folks as well, in an effort to boost activity and viewership. Additionally, I'm working to add a daily podcast, which will offer 60 minutes of nonstop sports analysis at least 5 days a week, leaning towards fantasy impact, analysis, and projections. We won't spend much time on the goings on off the field, unless they impact what's going to happen on the field due to suspension or health, in which case we'll merely figure the impact into our projections. We don't strive to be a sports gossip site, but a sports analysis site. All we really want to do, is research and analysis that helps you win your daily, or seasonal leagues. We're always looking for great people, both as social media marketers, writers, and editors, so if you think you fit the bill, drop us a line and we'll talk soon.
