Growing up in East Trinidad, KASH was influenced by a variety of musical genres, including hip- hop, rap, reggae, dancehall, R&B, rock and pop music. His unique sound was influenced by some of the greats, including Michael Jackson, Jay Z, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., Nas, Cam’ron, Lauryn Hill, Kanye West, Buju Banton, Beenie Man, Bounty Killa, Sizzla, Sean Paul, DMX, Wu-Tang Clan, Barrington Levy, Sno
op Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem; and, as of late, the likes of Future, Drake, J. While growing up in Trinidad, he acquired a great appreciation for hip-hop due to the thought provoking lyrical content spit from the legends of the game, including Tupac, Nas, Notorious B.I.G. While KASH hailed from a different country, he was able to relate his island life to the pictures they were painting. In 2008, KASH moved to the United States to pursue and obtain a degree in Finance at Miami Dade College. After completing his degree at Miami Dade College, he later attended DePaul University in Chicago to obtain an advanced degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. Upon graduation from DePaul, KASH obtained an equity options trader job in Chicago with a New York based trading firm. After two years of trading stocks and options in Chicago, KASH felt his calling was elsewhere and moved with his family and newborn daughter to Miami. Three months later, KASH realized that music was and always has been his calling, all the way back to his earliest memories of his father playing Michael Jackson’s iconic “Thriller” album as well as buying his very first album, Buju Banton’s “Inner Heights.”
KASH currently now resides in Miami, where he has begun writing and recording his own original music. He has been in the studio with acclaimed record producer for GoGrizzly (Future, Currency and Kevin Gates) as well as Atlanta’s Ducko McFli (Drake, 2 Chainz, Migos, A$AP Rocky and YG). They have been working on his upcoming EP, “The Takeover,” which should be available Summer 2015.
